About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Prairiewood is conveniently located in the heart of Prairiewood, close to several local schools. We are proud to be part of the Prairiewood community.

We offer education and care for children from 15 months to until they are ready to go to school. Our families and educators come from a range of different cultural backgrounds, and many educators speak a second language.

All our educators are highly experienced, friendly, and dedicated. We all strive to provide quality education and care and aim to create learning environments that are safe yet challenging, honing the imagination, curiosity, and creativity of the children.

Our play based, stimulating curriculum is based on the Early Years’ Learning Framework and our rooms – from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool – are all geared with this in mind. We also develop colourful, engaging programs accounting for each child’s individual interests, needs and strengths; and with each step we are ensuring the children are ready to take the big step into schooling.

We believe that a collaborative and respectful partnership between parents and educators is vital, and we encourage family participation at the childcare centre.    Our dedicated educators have been at the centre for many years, with an average of 10 years for most and all are qualified with Certificate 3, Diploma or Degree of Early Childhood Education and trained in First Aid.

At Goodstart Prairiewood,   individuality is celebrated!  We support families to access services such as the Learning Support Program and we work with KU Children’s Services and EACH (referral pathway to include children with vulnerabilities .  Our educators come from diverse cultural backgrounds, and we have educators who speak Assyrian, Persian, Spanish Arabic, Chinese, Vietnamese and Fijian.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests, and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

We have an on-site cook who prepares healthy and nutritionally balanced meals, and we are happy to accommodate dietary or cultural requirements.

Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we can enrich the learning experience. Creative Art and Design and Music experiences are provided daily which allow the children to freely express their creativity.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family. Come in and look around, meet the team, and explore how we can support your early learning journey.

Jonelle Kulper

Centre Director

Hello and welcome to our Centre!  My name is Jonelle Kulper, and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Prairiewood.

I have worked in Early Childhood Education and Care since 1992.  Starting out as a fresh and enthusiastic Certificate 3 Educator.  Graduating from TAFE NSW with my Diploma in Children’s Services in 1998, with my cup full of ideas and practices that I was ready to develop and implement.

After graduating and gaining a role as a Room Leader within a Nursery, I assumed the role for 18-months, where during this time an opportunity presented itself and I was offered the role as a Centre Director.  From this moment on I have supported and guided teams to inspire and guide children aged between 6-weeks to 6-years, working collaboratively with families and the wider community.

As Centre Director, I aspire to offer an inclusive and individualised program in a safe and welcoming environment, where each child is a person first and is respected for who they are. I welcome all people with differences into the centre, with the ambition that each child will enjoy their journey of growth and development while fostering confidence and self- worth.

I believe that strong relationships with children and families are the foundation to the practices at the centre. Establishing authentic partnerships with families ensures each child’s needs, both care and educational are met, with the expertise of a highly qualified team working in collaboration with families, the experts on their child and child’s first teacher.

With a continuous strive for excellence my work with children, families, the community and in leading the educative team is informed by evidence and research, with centre practices reflected on to ensure they are contextual to our families and community.

I invite you to come and visit Goodstart Prairiewood, see our curriculum in action and meet our wonderful team of educators
