Allied Health roles at Goodstart

Are you looking for a place where you can fulfil your passion for working with children in natural settings?

Do you thrive working as part of an interprofessional team alongside early childhood educators and other Allied Health professionals?

Do you want to join a team that truly recognises and values your efforts where you will be given a realistic and achievable workload?

At Goodstart, we have recognised the need to invest in Allied Health services to ensure vulnerable children have the learning, development, and wellbeing outcomes they need for school and life.

Our talented, experienced Allied Health practitioners work in a transdisciplinary team to support the inclusion of children. They provide better support for teachers and educators, so that they can provide the best teaching and learning for children experiencing vulnerability. Our Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Child and Family Practitioners are passionate about continuously building their knowledge and staying up to date with best practices. They’re excited to share their expertise and also learn from the education team to continuously improve and provide the best strategies for children to progress in their learning development and wellbeing.

Our Allied Health practitioners are vital to the success of our centres, helping to improve outcomes for children and mentoring and coaching the centre teams. The best part? They get to see the impact of their work at close range and are rewarded by the strong relationships they form with children, families, centre teams and communities.

Why choose Allied Health at Goodstart?

VIEWSupporting you in making a difference
We believe every person should feel supported to be the best they can be. We’ve listened to what our people need, and we’ve worked with them to implement even better conditions and benefits. The result? Empowering environments where your valuable contribution is recognised.

Goodstart is a pretty special organisation. We’re for children and not for profit. And by providing high-quality early learning in a safe and caring environment, our people give children the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes they need for school and beyond. It’s all part of our vision for Australia’s children to have the best possible start in life.

What that looks like for you. You will:
  • Work in partnership with Centre Directors, Teachers and Educators to deliver a targeted service, for children 0-5 years.
  • Support and empower early years educators to build the capability to observe, identify and explain any concerns related to the learning, development and well-being of children within the centre.
  • Promote an integrated, evidence-informed approach to deliver improved outcomes for children in their own learning environment
  • Work with the education team to plan goals and strategies that support children to make progress in their learning, development and wellbeing
  • Partner with families and the education team to ensure goals and strategies are agreed and shared and children’s progress is celebrated through a range of communication channels.

VIEWWorking conditions with you in mind
We recognise the incredible work you do and the difference you make in the lives of children every day. But we also know you value your time outside of the workplace, and that looks different for everyone. Our flexible working conditions are designed to be exactly that: flexible, with no “one-size-fits-all” approach.

What this means for you:
  • We offer flexible working arrangements with opportunities to work from home
  • We offer the option to purchase extra leave for greater work-life balance
  • Generous discounts on childcare, insurance, travel and technology to make life easier whenever we can.

VIEWProviding you with security and support
We’re big, but we have a big heart, too. With more than 670 centres across Australia, we offer the security, reassurance and support of a large network - and with that comes job stability. Although we’re a large organisation, we recognise that everyone has individual goals and needs.

What this means for you:
  • 4 weeks paid parental leave (increasing to 6 weeks from December 2023) because we know family matters
  • You’ll get dedicated support and guidance on a range of topics, such as safety, teaching and inclusion, delivered face to face or virtually by our centre support team

VIEWA safe and welcoming environment
At Goodstart, health, safety and wellbeing are more than just words – they’re who we are and what we do to support you. We provide you with programs and ongoing support, such as live interactive webinars with our national safety and wellbeing team and free 24/7 independent counselling services to ensure you feel safe in your environment.

We are an equal opportunity employer, and we’re proud of our inclusive and diverse work environment. We want you to be comfortable being yourself, so we support individual growth and strong teams made up of many different cultures and backgrounds.

What this means for you:
  • With our sector-leading safety policies and procedures, you’ll always have peace of mind
  • You’ll have access to free 24/7 independent counselling for support when you need it most
  • Access to regular professional supervision
  • We have a dedicated national safety team that prioritises your safety and wellness
  • Our Reconciliation Action Plan and employment diversity initiatives embed inclusive practices into our centres to ensure everyone feels welcome

VIEWPersonal development and career opportunities
We offer professional development opportunities throughout the year to keep you up to date with leading-edge early learning practices. We also provide training to help you put inclusive practices in place, so you can support more children from diverse backgrounds or with additional needs. And because we have over 670 centres across Australia, there are plenty of chances to advance your career if you choose.

You will have:
  • Regular, supportive formal and informal performance discussions with your line manager to celebrate your strengths and set meaningful, achievable professional development goals.
  • Access to our live webinars and interactive learning hub, so you can develop your skills in line with your individual goals.
  • An allocated allowance to spend annually on external professional development aligned with Goodstart’s allied health approach.
  • Practical opportunities to build and refine your coaching skills to support and enhance the capacity of educators working with children and families to achieve positive developmental outcomes.
