About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Daisy Hill is situated in the centre of Daisy Hill, close to shops and schools and offers care for all children aged from six weeks to school age.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we live, work and play on. We pay our respect to the Elders past and present and respect all Indigenous Australians.

Our Educators recognise that the first five years of a child's life are important for their future and acknowledge the trust parents have in us. Our aim at Goodstart Daisy Hill is to provide an environment where each child's individual needs and interests are met, while adhering to the principles of the Early Years' Learning Framework.

Individuality and culture are celebrated in a safe, welcoming and supportive atmosphere. All educators believe in a holistic approach to children's development, supporting children to become effective learners in a rich environment that is meaningful and relevant. We aim to create an environment that allows for active exploration that stimulates and challenges and is responsive to the needs of individual children.

Inside, all of the rooms  - from Nursery to Kindergarten  - are set up with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our two areas have sand pits, seating, water tanks, a worm farm, vege patch, gardens and lots of shade.

At Goodstart Daisy Hill, we recognize families are a child’s first teacher, therefore we encourage, value and welcome active participation from families in the life of the child care centre.

Through partnerships and tapping into the skills and talents of our families and the broader community, we are able to enrich the children's learning program with "real life" visits and incursions, as well as exciting visits to locations within the community. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.

In the recent assessment and rating of Goodstart Daisy Hill conducted by the Department of Education, Training and Employment against the National Quality standard for Early childhood Education and Care and School Aged Care we are proud to announce that we were rated as a centre that "exceeds" National Quality Standards. This is a wonderful reflection of the committment of our team.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family. Come in and take a look around, meet the team and explore how we can support your early learning journey.

Hannah Cowles

Centre Director

Hello, my name is Hannah and I am the Centre Director of Goodstart Daisy Hill.

I have been with Goodstart for 11 years and have worked in various roles during that time including Educator, Educational Leader and most recently, Assistant Director. I choose to work in Early Education because I believe that the first five years of a child’s life are integral to building a strong foundation for their future and I want to be a part of encouraging them to grow and develop a love of learning early in life.

Natural play and making the most of the outdoor space is central to my teaching principles and I am a strong believer in ensuring every child has an understanding of the world around them.

I am also a mother myself and through those experiences have shaped my understanding around the importance of creating a secure, safe and supportive environment for families and children.
