About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Kelso - Riverway Drive is a 75-place long day care centre, located close to local state and private schools. We are also a short drive from the university and hospital.

All of our wonderful educators are qualified and are passionate about creating a stable and consistent atmosphere.

We have a courtesy bus service for families, which drops off and collects children from two schools locally. The bus also services homes for families.

Our excellent educational program, which follows the Early Years Learning Framework, gives children the opportunity to develop a great sense of belonging, becoming and being in a fun and challenging environment.
Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our Storypark platform, enables us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths. We have a strong level of cultural diversity and family feel in our centre which assists and encourages the children to learn and understand other cultures and customs.

Outside, we have three areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment, these include sandpits, natural and manmade play surfaces, swings and lots of area for imaginative and fun play.

Andrea Hayes

Centre Director

My name is Andrea and I have been in Townsville since 2006, and working with families and children for over 20 years.

I hold my Diploma in Children’s Services, as well as a Bachelor of Psychology with a special interest in children’s development and human behaviour. I have had a variety of roles in the childcare industry including Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Director, and currently as a part of my passion for keeping children safe, I am a Child Safety Advocate as well as my Centre Director role.

I believe that every child deserves the best start in life we can possibly give them, regardless of background, through genuine nurturing and care while providing a quality education through rich, safe and positive learning environments.

I am proud to lead a team of professional, dedicated Educators who genuinely value being such an important part of each child’s learning while building those essential relationships with families. My goal is to ensure their child’s time here at Goodstart Kelso is happy and safe and will be remembered as a cherished and memorable part of their childhood.
