About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Kelso - Riverway Drive is a 75-place long day care centre, located close to local state and private schools. We are also a short drive from the university and hospital, and only a minutes walk from public transport.

Inside we have 5 rooms starting from 6 weeks though to kindergarten for that essential pre-Prep preparation. Outside we have 3 separate age-appropriate play spaces and equipment and includes our Family Time yard where we come together as our little community to start and finish each day.

We have an experienced team of dedicated, qualified educators who are passionate about the sensory play-based learning program which follows the Early Years Learning Framework, giving every child the opportunity to develop a deep sense of belonging, becoming and being in a safe, welcoming environment.

We believe it is important for our service to appreciate what each child can achieve and what they can bring into our service to share with others.

Our goal is for families to feel they’ve made the right choice for their child’s daycare, and feel confident their children feel secure, are educated, and happy. We believe learning experiences are most meaningful when the development, experiences, interests and culture of each unique little person is taken into consideration. We want your children to look back at their experiences here at Goodstart Kelso and see it as a treasured and memorable part of their childhood.

Andrea Hayes

Centre Director

My name is Andrea and I have been in Townsville since 2006, and working with families and children for over 20 years.

I hold my Diploma in Children’s Services, as well as a Bachelor of Psychology with a special interest in children’s development and human behaviour. I have had a variety of roles in the childcare industry including Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Director, and currently as a part of my passion for keeping children safe, I am a Child Safety Advocate as well as my Centre Director role.

I believe that every child deserves the best start in life we can possibly give them, regardless of background, through genuine nurturing and care while providing a quality education through rich, safe and positive learning environments.

I am proud to lead a team of professional, dedicated Educators who genuinely value being such an important part of each child’s learning while building those essential relationships with families. My goal is to ensure their child’s time here at Goodstart Kelso is happy and safe and will be remembered as a cherished and memorable part of their childhood.
