About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Mangerton is located in the leafy suburb of Mangerton about two minutes’ drive from the central business district of Wollongong. Travelling from the north or south the Figtree exits off the motorway will lead you in our direction.

Our building was originally a church and church hall and the atmosphere is friendly and inviting with some of the characteristics of the building’s past adding charm.

Our centre provides care for children six weeks through to six years. Each room has qualified and experienced staff monitoring the individual development and milestones of each child and ensuring a nurturing and caring environment is maintained.

We facilitate a key educator approach at our centre that supports the building of a strong, secure, reciprocal, and communicative relationship between each child and their family, based on trust and respect with one key educator whilst the child is in our early learning environment. This relationship is supported by a secondary educator when the key educator is unavailable.

This role of key educator will support the growth of secure attachments between educator and child through essential care routines and the provision of experiences in small groups. The key educator approach enriches a deep understanding of each family’s uniqueness, faith and cultural beliefs to ensure we nurture and respond to each child’s holistic development and learning.

Our play based curriculum is based on the Early Years’ Learning Framework and our rooms – from Nursery to Preschool. Our environments support learning across Key Learning Areas (language and literacy, mathematics, creative arts, socio-dramatic play, construction, science and technology, physical play, and social / emotional), and are constantly evolving and authentically speak of our children’s interests. We also develop intentional and engaging programs with child’s individual interests central to their design, however also considering children’s needs and strengths. With each step we are ensuring the children are ready to take the big step into school and for lifelong learning.

This is made simpler through our intuitive Storypark platform, which enables us to maintain consistent and clear communications with families. That means we are better placed to support a child in their learning journey, ensure parents have peace of mind, and time stamp the children’s developments, milestones and achievements.

Outside, our playground areas are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces – with sandpits, rock gardens, water channel, vegetable patch, decking, dirt pit, and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.

A major focus for our centre is how working with the broader community can help us enrich the children’s learning experience. Through visits to the centre as well as excursions and participation in community events, we are able to deepen the relationship between the centre and the community, while teaching the children about being a contributing and active member of society.

We look forward to meeting you and your family soon! Come in and meet the team, take a tour and see how we can work together to give your child the best possible start in life.

Patricia Doyle

Centre Director

Hello and welcome to our Centre! My name is Patricia Doyle and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Mangerton. I have been working in the Early Childhood sector since 1992. I have worked in a variety of roles including in home care, teaching in centres, directing centres and in operational management. I have been associated with Goodstart Mangerton since 2001 when I first became the centre director. I was provided the opportunity to join the Goodstart NSW operational team in 2013 when I became an Area Manager. With a passion for teaching and the desire to be in a centre role, I returned to Goodstart Mangerton in October 2018 as a teacher and stepped into the centre director role in January 2019.

I have my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) which I attained in 2013 having returned to study to update my original Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) which I completed in 2000.

Strong relationships with children and families are the foundation to the practices at the centre. Establishing authentic partnerships with families ensures each child’s needs, both care and educational are met, with the expertise of a highly qualified team working in collaboration with families, the experts on their child and child’s first teacher. With a continuous strive for excellence my work with children, families, the community and in leading the educative team is informed by evidence and research, with centre practices reflected on to ensure they are contextual to our families and community.

I invite you to come and visit Goodstart Mangerton, see our curriculum in action and meet our wonderful team of educators
