About our centre

We are a multi-cultural group of passionate staff here at Goodstart Early Learning Wishart coming from all around the world. We are well trained and established, for some having been at the centre for 5 and up to 18 years. We are located in a very family friendly suburb, close to major shopping centres, public transport and only minutes away from both Mansfield State Primary School and Wishart State Primary School.

We cater for children aged between 6 weeks to 6 years in our centre from the Nursery room, Toddlers, Senior Toddlers, Pre Kindy and Kindy room within our centre daily.

You will find our rooms are set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework and catered to the children in the space with sensory, and play based learning opportunities every day. Each room has a stimulating surrounds as well as quiet space which ensure children have the chance to grow and develop through leading their own learning, and we have strong focus on ensuring children are ready to take that all important step up to school.

Our Storypark platform as well as our centre wide events enable us to stay in close contact with parents, families, and extended families welcoming and fostering all communications and relationships openly.
Our beautiful outdoor environment is well equipped with age appropriate resources and geared to enhance children’s awareness of their bodies, surrounds, and to develop an understanding of the importance of sustainability. We as their carers also appreciate the idea as the environment being children’s third teacher. We have natural gardens, a mud kitchen, crazy pave, a dry creek bed with bridge, balancing logs, a Balinese hut, drinking fountain, vegetable patches and a well shaded sandpit.

We tailor learning opportunities to children’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as providing pathways to explore, challenge, acknowledge, and to celebrate diversity.

Our community is very important to us and with your visits to the centre, and participation in our events and fun activities throughout the year we’re able to enrich children’s learning experiences.

Our job is to support you in your role as parents. In doing so, we offer a Key Educator Relationship programme that allows you and your child to form a relationship with one person, this person will be from your child’s room. Your Key Educator will be your port of call, your anchor. She will work closely with and alongside you and our child developing the trust needed to nurture your sense of wellbeing and belonging before feeling you can branch out to the rest of the Goodstart Early Learning Community who are all waiting to get to know you.

We value all contributions made by families, most importantly by way of time. Taking the time to ‘hang out’, read a book or to make sandcastles with your child and their friends.

We invite you to come and visit our centre, meet our fabulous new management team and the rest of the wonderful staff to see for yourself our commitment to your child’s early learning journey.

Ayan Nelisitama

Centre Director

Fakalofa lahi atu my name’s Ayan. I am a New Zealand born Niuean raised in Auckland and recently relocated with my partner to beautiful Brisbane in September 2018. I’ve been working in the Early Childhood industry for over 15 years working with all ages, having spent five years before Early Childhood working as a Teacher Aid in a Primary School.

I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and am a believer of the Pikler philosophy and RIE approach which underpin my teaching practice. My personal philosophy is fully formed, particularly in the key areas of relationships, respectful caregiving, and child-led pedagogical approaches. My teaching pedagogy is based on respect, relationships and play. I believe children under five have the toughest time, and the biggest battles at the most vulnerable time of their lives having not yet developed or mastered the skills required to comprehend all the new people, places and things they encounter everyday as they try to make sense of this big world they’re in.

As your new Centre Director I will respect my trusted role in society and the influence I have in shaping Goodstart Wishart by promoting, and protecting the Early Years Learning Framework, and reflecting the holistic way in which your child learns and grows, with the cognitive, physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural dimensions all interwoven into one. I am a loving mother, doting grandmother, partner, sister, cousin, aunt, and daughter. I look forward to meeting you and your child/ren as we embark on our new professional and educational journey here, together; at Goodstart, Wishart.

I look forward to getting to know you and your family.
