Dancing, wearing red and having fun will all be on the agenda when the Goodstart Early Learning centres take part in the Little Rockers Red Nose Disco, powered by iHeartRadio this June.

Red Nose Day, June 30 2017, raises awareness about the devastating reality that each year in Australia over 3,200 babies and children die suddenly and unexpectedly with causes including stillbirth, SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents. Little Rockers Radio will produce a special one hour disco broadcast at several key times throughout June.

Kindergarten children will be at the heart of activities that have been organised as Goodstart educators at many Goodstart Early Learning centres help reduce nine deaths a day to zero by fundraising this Red Nose Day.

Goodstart Murarrie centre director Melissa McFaul said educators and children would get into the spirit of the event by wearing red and tuning into the official Little Rockers Red Nose Disco radio station.

“We supported this cause last year and are very keen to do it again in 2017,” Ms McFaul said. “We have a nursery here so creating awareness of Red Nose’s safe sleeping education is very close to our hearts.

“It’s a great chance to make a difference in our community by sending a message of support to the thousands of Australian families who experience the sudden and unexpected death of a child every year. And we believe that supporting the community is really important as a not-for-profit organisation.”

Centres register by purchasing a $25 disco pack which includes games, decorations, wristbands, merchandise and much more! Children are encouraged to bring along a gold coin donation to participate and centres are provided with a donation box to collect funds.

All funds raised through the Little Rockers Red Nose Disco will help fund vital research, provide life-saving education and bereavement support for anyone impacted by the death of a child.

Since the charity’s inception, more than $16.7 million has been devoted into researching stillbirth, neonatal death, SIDS and other causes that contribute to the 3,200 infant deaths in Australia each year.
