Children exhibit recycled art work

Goodstart centres

Making an art work with recycled materials has resulted in the children from Goodstart Narre Warren South taking part in a City of Casey exhibition.

The children created a sustainable piece of artwork for the Kinder Recycled Art Exhibition and were selected from the 23 entries to be in the top ten.

Centre director Kylie Bartlett said the children entered the competition to continue to engage the children in learning about the environmental benefits of recycling.

“Our piece was one of five that will be displayed in a new recycling resource centre in Hallam and until that’s built it will be displayed in the office,” Ms Bartlett said.

All art needed to be made from reused/recycled materials and could take any form such as hanging art, sculpture, puppets and mobiles.

The top 20 pieces were displayed at the Kinder Recycled Art Exhibition during the Recycling Celebration Night on Wednesday (November 9).

“Seeing them show such pride in their achievement was extremely rewarding,” Ms Bartlett said.

“The smiles on their faces when they pointed their work out to their families with such ownership was amazing. We had great support from our local community, families and children to create such a great piece.

“The things that can be done with recycled materials is endless and with the imagination of a child you can only imagine where it can lead to.”
