Free Triple P parenting advice and support for Queensland families
Tens of thousands of busy Queensland parents will soon get free parenting advice and counselling at Goodstart Early Learning centres across the state.
In an Australian first, 140 of Goodstart’s early childhood educators will be trained to deliver Triple P – Positive Parenting Program seminars, which will be open to the public.
Canadian early learning expert and Triple P provider Professor Shawna Lee is helping train Goodstart staff and said busy mums, dads and carers would soon be able to get world-class parenting support if and when they needed it.
“Triple P is about giving parents a helping hand, whether they’ve got some small worries or are experiencing full-blown toddler tantrums and other challenging behaviours,” Professor Lee said.
Helping parents stay positive
Triple P seminars are 90 minute sessions that are focused on sharing practical tips and strategies. They will give parents a range of positive parenting strategies and ideas, covering the most common issues parents face, including:
- Temper tantrums
- Self-esteem issues
- Bedtime battles
Goodstart Queensland State Manager Lesley Jones said that, as a not-for-profit social enterprise, Goodstart has a strong focus on improving the wellbeing outcomes for children and families.
“We know that working together with families works best for children so we continually strive to strengthen the connections we have with our families across all our communities,” Ms Jones said.
“Triple P is a natural fit for Goodstart – it offers strategies to create positive family environments that encourage children to realise their potential.”
