Goodstart Oakleigh South raises $1300 for hospital

Goodstart centres

Sizzling sausages at their local Bunnings Warehouse has helped Goodstart Oakleigh South Moresby Street raise more than $1300 for Monash Children’s Hospital.

The fundraising event was part of the centre’s commitment to the local community.

Centre director Candyce Hepponstall said the centre had reached out to the local community to see how they could help make the hospital a special and welcoming place for Victoria’s children.

“My sister is a nurse at Monash Hospital and when I asked about fundraising ideas, she told me about the opening of the new children’s facility in early 2017 who were looking for fundraising support,” Ms Hepponstall said.

“Bunnings sausage sizzles are extremely popular, so we thought this was a great opportunity for us to make a difference in our community, to support families who may be experiencing difficult times and to ensure that children remain central to everything that we do,” she said.

The event was a huge success with more than $1300 was raised on the day for Monash Children’s Hospital.

“We would like to thank the families at Goodstart Oakleigh South Moresby Street who volunteered their time to help out on the day. Their dedication and commitment is truly an inspiration,” Ms Hepponstall said.

“A big thank you also our local butcher, as well as Woolworths and Coles for donating bread and condiments. Without their support our fundraising efforts would not have been possible.”

The Monash Children’s Hospital care for over 100,000 children every year. The funds raised will help provide care for children at the current children’s hospital as well as at the world class new Monash Children’s Hospital that is due to open in early 2017.
