New state-of-the-art child care experience at Goodstart Hobart West

New state-of-the-art child care experience at Goodstart Hobart West

The new state-of-the-art Goodstart Early Learning centre in Hobart has been transformed from an 1898 heritage listed building into a world-class, contemporary facility offering nearly 100 early learning and care places. It features exceptional indoor and outdoor play spaces for children that will allow for gross motor play all year round.

The Hobart West centre features a dedicated waiting area, separate parent room and a training room for family information sessions.

Additional features in the centre include external parks, walking track and open-play areas to inspire children’s learning and creativity. There’s also an onsite cook who will provide healthy, nutritious meals for all enrolled children.

Building community partnerships to better support children and families on their learning journey
Goodstart Tasmania State Manager Chris Symons said the centre was the first Goodstart purpose-built centre in Tasmania and would also serve as the state’s hub for staff, with a dedicated training room for educators.

“Having a dedicated training room as part of our Goodstart Hobart West centre will allow us to provide additional learning opportunities for our educators across the region to support them in becoming the best in their field,” he said.

“The training room will also provide a space for the centre to use in partnership with other community providers. Staff in our centres know that building strong relationships with families and the local community provides the greatest opportunity to deliver the best outcomes for children and families.

“Over the last couple of months the centre was able to partner with the Parents and Kids Together Program (PAKT) to offer a program that supported one-on-one time for children and their families. The program provided children and their families an opportunity to create projects together through art and craft sessions.

“We want to continue building partnerships with community organisations like PAKT to better support our children and families on their learning journey,” Mr Symons said.

The centre was officially opened by the Deputy Premier and Minister of Education and Training, the Hon. Jeremy Rockliff MP, on Monday 9 May 2016.

Goodstart Hobart West is now taking enrolments. The centre is located at 40 Molle Street, just 500m from the Hobart CBD and with onsite parking. The centre’s location caters for city workers travelling from the southern and western suburbs and offers long day hours for children aged six weeks to five years.

We are greatly looking forward to welcoming our new families and children into our Goodstart community.
