Goodstart McKinnon's new kindy yard

Goodstart centres

The kindergarten yard at Goodstart McKinnon has undergone a major transformation, seamlessly incorporating new multi-purpose play spaces and gardens much to the delight of the children who attend the early learning centre.

On Friday 21 October, Glen Eira Mayor Neil Pilling will officially open in the newly rejuvenated yard with local Councillor Margaret Esakoff also to attend the special event.

Centre director Barbara Echeverria said they were looking forward to welcoming the local dignitaries to the centre to showcase its amazing outdoor transformation.

“The kindy yard has changed from a tired, old looking playground without many natural elements to a beautiful space where children can explore and play, it has a really tranquil feel about it,” Miss Echeverria said.

“We now have a musical area with wind chimes, a decked stage area for group times, an outdoor kitchen, blackboard, cubby house, a rope balancing and climbing apparatus, a veggie garden, a dry rock bed with lots of surrounding plants, a boat and an area with soft fall and lush artificial turf for setting up climbing equipment.”

At the opening, Cr Neil Pilling will join the children planting some flowers in one of the centre’s new flower beds and enjoy time with educators and families.

Goodstart McKinnon caters for 75 children from nursery age through to kindergarten / preschool, offering high quality, nationally recognised programs along with a number of extra-curricular activities such as computer gym and happy feet fitness and dance.
