Hello!
Hello!

We’re supporting recognition of First Nations Australians in the Constitution

Goodstart is committed to reconciliation and as part of that commitment our organisation supports a Yes vote in the referendum on the recognition of the First Peoples of Australia.

Goodstart is proud to join 70 other Reconciliation Action Plan partners to support a Yes Vote on the referendum on the recognition of First Nations Australians in the constitution and Voice to Parliament.

Our CEO Dr Ros Baxter said: “We’ve been invited as a nation, to unify and to recognise First Nations people and for the first time, give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians a say, a ‘Voice’ in the decisions being made about them.

Goodstart has answered the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart with a resounding yes.”

Reconciliation is woven through everything we do as an organisation, nearly a decade ago our organisation started our own reconciliation journey, guided by Reconciliation Australia.

As an organisation Goodstart supports the yes campaign but no employee or family will be told how to vote.

Today each of our centres is also exploring reconciliation through the Narragunnawali program which supports schools and early learning services to foster knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
histories, cultures and contributions.

Our First Nations Leaders, First Nations Voices Group and First Nations Yarning Circles deliver culturally safe spaces for the hundreds of Goodstarters who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

We are very proud that increasing numbers of First Nations families are choosing Goodstart centres to begin their child’s learning journey.
