About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Tatton is a purpose built centre located in Tatton on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga. We are located next to a newly established medical centre and a short drive from local schools and a shopping complex.

Our service provides high quality care and education for children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years, across all five rooms. Our team of long standing dedicated educators have over 150 combined years of early childhood experience.

Inside, all of the rooms  - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have three areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment. We have the space for the children to explore and test theirt imaginations with mud pits, sandpits, climbing equipment, gardens, vege patches, a bike track, and lots of shade.

Our Centre Cook provides healthy and nutritional meals for all children, catering for all dietary requirements.

Our centre vision is to partner with families to inspire lifelong learning in children. Our key educator approach assists us to establish safe and secure relationships not only with the children but their families as well.

Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.

We pride ourselves on our high quality programs that are inclusive of all children. In our daily practices we make every effort for children and family voices to be active within our environment.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your family and learn a little about how we can best support you on the journey of lifelong learning.

Samantha Gilmour

Centre Director

Hello, my name is Samantha and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Tatton.

My name is Samantha and I am so honoured to be joining the Goodstart Tatton team as Centre Director from Monday 10th July.

My journey in early childhood has been full of amazing growth and development as I commenced my career over 14 years ago as a trainee, working towards my Certificate 3, then moving onto my Diploma and am so proud to now hold my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching). I am an experienced leader in Early Childhood having held a range of roles including educator, director and area manager in Sydney and Newcastle however I am so thankful to be returning home to Wagga Wagga.

My educational philosophy is to ensure all children and families are provided with high quality care and educational opportunities to ensure they grow holistically and are able to take on the world with confidence! We, as early childhood professionals have the absolute privilege to support each child to be exactly who they want to be, through partnering with them in their learning and supporting them to share their knowledge and ideas. In doing this, we assist children to extend on their knowledge, build firm foundations of learning and develop positive, secure and reciprocal relationships with their peers, educators and their wider community.

In leadership, my goal is to ensure all of our team members are on a path of continuous development, through growth of knowledge, practice and positive engagement. I believe my role is to support them to build on their current skills and understanding to exceed expectations to ensure our service is authentic, collaborative, is providing excellence in service delivery and is a community partner.

I am a mother, first and foremost and therefore I understand and encourage parent voice in our service, I welcome feedback and I endeavour to partner with all families to ensure we are meeting your expectations. A child’s parent is their first and most prominent teacher and in partnering with our families, the outcomes for our children are exceptional.

I look forward to meeting you soon and working closely, alongside our team and families into the future.
