About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Wishart!

We're a warm, inclusive long day care centre located in a family-friendly suburb, close to Mansfield and Wishart State Primary and High Schools.

Our team is passionate about building strong relationships with families and the local community, which helps us tailor early learning programs to suit each child's interests, needs, and strengths.

From nursery through to kindergarten, our play-based curriculum aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework and supports every stage of development.

Through sensory, nature-based and exploratory play, we help young children grow in confidence while preparing our kindergarten children with the foundational skills needed for school.

Take a tour and see it all in action – our friendly team would love to show you around.

What makes us special?

  • Children learn Mandarin through songs and conversations with Miss Vivianne
  • Floral Friday celebration recognising Torres Strait Islander Peoples and wearing floral clothing
  • Weekly rotating cooking lessons in kindergarten, ensuring all children can participate
  • Much-loved events for Mother's Day, Father’s Day, Grandparents Day, and Christmas
  • Strong community ties with local schools, St Catherine's and Mansfield State High
  • Frequent dress-up days such as Pyjama Week, Superhero Day, and Footy Colours Day
  • Weekly 'Taba Naba' gatherings, where we revisit learning, Mandarin, and songs from our cultures, including Fijian, Indian, Mandarin, and Te Reo Māori.

At our centre, open communication, accessibility, and cultural sensitivity are at the heart of everything we do. These values help create a safe and supportive environment for every child and family.

We believe every experience contributes to a child's growth, so we embrace play-based learning, tailored programs and regular incursions that reflect children's interests.

The Early Years Learning Framework shapes our teacher-led curriculum and supports development across all key areas.

Families stay connected through our secure Storypark platform, with regular updates and insights into your child's daily learning journey.

As a not-for-profit provider, we prioritise children's wellbeing, offer flexible session options and keep fees affordable.

Why not book a tour and experience the difference at Goodstart Wishart? We'd love to welcome your family.

Learn more about Goodstart Wishart

  • At Goodstart Wishart, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.

    We prioritise:

    1. Holistic Development: Supporting cognitive, emotional, social, and physical growth through engaging and developmentally appropriate activities.
    2. Family and Community Engagement: Building strong partnerships with families and the community to create a supportive network for each child.
    3. Inclusive Environment: Celebrating diversity and ensuring that all children feel valued, respected, and included.
    4. Lifelong Learning: Instilling a love of learning by encouraging exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.

  • Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.

Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.

We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

  • At our WIshart centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

  • At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, which includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We offer:

    • Discounts on multiple days
    • All day sessions
    • Discounted shorter sessions
    • Fee assistance programs for families that need support
  • We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of children are considered, and our learning goals reflect them. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure you're well informed about your child's development and achievements.

Ayan Nelisitama

Centre Director

Fakalofa lahi atu my name’s Ayan. I am a New Zealand born Niuean raised in Auckland and recently relocated with my partner to beautiful Brisbane in September 2018. I’ve been working in the Early Childhood industry for over 15 years working with all ages, having spent five years before Early Childhood working as a Teacher Aid in a Primary School.

I have a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and am a believer of the Pikler philosophy and RIE approach which underpin my teaching practice. My personal philosophy is fully formed, particularly in the key areas of relationships, respectful caregiving, and child-led pedagogical approaches. My teaching pedagogy is based on respect, relationships and play. I believe children under five have the toughest time, and the biggest battles at the most vulnerable time of their lives having not yet developed or mastered the skills required to comprehend all the new people, places and things they encounter everyday as they try to make sense of this big world they’re in.

As your new Centre Director I will respect my trusted role in society and the influence I have in shaping Goodstart Wishart by promoting, and protecting the Early Years Learning Framework, and reflecting the holistic way in which your child learns and grows, with the cognitive, physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cultural dimensions all interwoven into one. I am a loving mother, doting grandmother, partner, sister, cousin, aunt, and daughter. I look forward to meeting you and your child/ren as we embark on our new professional and educational journey here, together; at Goodstart, Wishart.

I look forward to getting to know you and your family.
