About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Marrickville is on the grounds of Marrickville Public School. We have a lovely, heritage building with high ceilings, lots of open space and two age appropriate outdoor playgrounds, and a courtyard that we are able to use when the weather is wet.

Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Preschool - are set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Our centre staff come from many varied backgrounds and they bring with them a wealth of experience and dedication. Many of the staff are bi-lingual and incorporate their cultures into our educational programs.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Both our outdoor playgrounds have established trees, providing natural shade, along with shade sails, fixed equipment, sandpits and a variety of outdoor equipment.

We are open from 6:30am to 6pm, provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. We have a cook on the premises who prepares the meals on-site. Our menu is highly nutritious with the children enjoying a range of meals. If your child has any special dietary requirements, just let us know and we are able to cater for these.

Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.

We warmly welcome new families, so please stop by! We would love to explore how we can support you and your child on their pathway to lifelong learning.

Kate Marshall

Centre Director

Hi there! My name is Kate and I am the Centre Director of Goodstart Early Learning Marrickville.

I hold a Bachelor in Education (Early Childhood Education) and have enjoyed working with children of all age groups. I have worked at Goodstart Marrickville since 2010. I have taken on many different roles within the centre throughout this time, building on my teaching and leadership experience.

I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment that allows each child to explore and develop at their own pace for them to reach their full potential. I believe developing secure, trusting relationships is key to having a safe and positive environment. This is why throughout the centre we have embedded the key educator approach to support each child and their family whilst in the care environment.

I believe that it is important to encourage children to be lifelong learners as children prepare for their transition to school. As educators we aim to develop their children’s social and emotional skills so that are ready to take this experience on with confidence.

I am proud to be working with such a dedicated and hardworking team of educators who strive to make each child feel valued and supported. We hope that you are able to take the time to come and visit us and discover how we can support your families with this journey.

I highly value our local community and the connections we build together. I believe community plays a crucial role in early childhood education as it involves the connections between children, families, and local businesses and community members. A strong community provides a supportive and inclusive environment that helps children grow their social-emotional skills and feel a sense of belonging.
