About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning - Quakers Hill acknowledges the Darug people as the traditional custodians of the land that our centre resides on.  We are a purpose built childcare centre with three welcoming learning environments; Nursery, Toddlers and Preschool. We are located in a residential area close to schools, shops, quick access to main roads and bus stops.

We develop engaging curriculum experiences for our children, taking our lead from the children’s interests, individual needs and abilities, and care routines. We draw on current research and Early Childhood theories to create layers of knowledge for our educators in regards to child development. This centre has taken particular interest in the ‘Resources for Infant Educarers Approach’, ‘Key Educator Approach’ and ‘Reggio Emilia’ and find inspiration from Indigenous Australia and theorists like Piaget and Vygotsky.

School readiness programs are evident throughout all of our rooms with our main focuses being on social development, self-regulation, responsibility, respect and confidence. We have three Early Childhood Teachers and our Educational Leader (in conjunction with local Primary School Teachers) that promote the programs and ensure that all Educators are drawing on current research to give children the best start to their education.

When your child starts with us, they are connected with a Key Educator. This Educator is responsible for your child’s documentation and learning programs, as well as ensuring that they eat well, sleep soundly and develop positive relationships within the environment.

Our Storypark platform, as well as family nights and newsletters, enables us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths, as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

We have two great outdoor areas, which are have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability.

Throughout the year we have a lot of visits to the centre from people in the local community. These can include, but are not limited too; the Fire Department, Police, Swim Safe, centre photos, cultural days, celebrations, music and art classes. We also enjoy taking our children out into the community with visits to Hambledon Public School, local parks and shops.

We provide all meals at the service which are all made from scratch from our four week rotating menu.  Our menu has been formulated from the National Dietary Guidelines in conjunction with our families and children.

Nappies are also provided for the children and we can assist with toilet learning when both child and parents are ready to take that next step.

We invite you to come and visit our centre, to meet our team, and to see for yourself our commitment to your child’s early learning journey

Michelle Hollier Newsome

Centre Director

My name is Michelle and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Quakers Hill. I have a Bachelor of Education from Charles Sturt University and have been in the Early Childhood profession since 2002. During my career I have had the opportunity to work with all different age groups in many different capacities. I am passionate about Early Education as this is when children develop their building blocks to set them up for their future. Watching them grow and learn is a privilege. I love being a part of the process to help children reach their full potential.

I look forward to working with you all and exploring how we can navigate through your child’s early learning adventure.
