About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Tweed Heads is an innovative service delivering education and care to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years of age.  Our close proximity to the M1, provides a seamless route to the centre and local schools, making the drop offs and pickups a smooth transition when you are on your way to work, study and home.

Our fully air-conditioned centre offers 5 rooms, for children to begin their education journey.  Our 2 Nursery rooms are designed for children 6 weeks to 2 years to explore and discover through an interactive nurturing and safe environment.  Our Toddler room allows children to discover their interests and socialise in an environment that offers independence as well as support for development.

Our Preschool rooms are designed for children’s planning.  Their interests and thoughts are paramount to the development of a holistic program. Preschool 1 lays the foundation for the essential learning that takes place in our Preschool 2 room.  Our Early Childhood Teachers ensure your child has the opportunities to develop the skills needed for a successful transition into the next stage of their education journey.

The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and its Principles, Practices and Learning Outcomes are the foundation to our programs.  The Goodstart practice guide and unique ISTEP framework is how we implement the EYLF.  Each room has individually designed play stations where children discover, create, investigate and find joy with friends.  They are added to regularly according to the interests and strengths of the children.  Loose parts are an important aspect of our program allowing the children to use their imagination, engage with a wide variety of materials and be the designer, architect or engineer they are destined to be.

Genuine partnership and respectful relationships with families, children and the community has lead Goodstart Tweed Heads to embark on the EChO journey (Enhancing Children’s Outcomes).  We have a family room for families to spend time borrowing from our family library and we employ a Child and Family Practitioner to deliver programs and family support with the educators.  We also employ both a Speech and Occupational Therapist, who provide experiences that will enhance the outcomes for all children.
Community partnerships are an important aspect of our service delivery, we plan and participate in community events with our local schools, we embark on community walks with the children and we volunteer at a local Food Bank assisting the volunteers.  Our service also provides a free bus for families who have no transportation or difficulty in getting their child to the centre.

We are also committed to the Traditional Owners of the Bunjalung Land and in our instance Minjunbal people.  Our service is working towards developing a reconciliation Action Plan in consultation with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

We welcome families that would like to visit and enjoy a play date within our centre.

Jennifer Tranby-Hunter

Centre Director

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I’m the Centre Director at Goodstart Tweed Heads.

I believe in successfully educating and caring for young children as well as building respectful and genuine relationships with families and the community. I moved to Northern NSW with my husband 23 years ago and have loved raising my boys in this glorious area. In the first half of my career I was a director in various roles in the local community, and I have been working in early childhood education for the last 15 years. I am excited to begin my journey with Goodstart Early Learning and I join an experienced and professional team of teachers and educators at Goodstart Tweed Heads. My commitment is to ensure all families and children are respected for their culture, their diversity and the beautiful qualities each family brings. I also ensure the local community is part of our vision, philosophy and our relationships.

I would value the opportunity to meet you and your child and discuss how we can give them the best possible start to a journey of lifelong learning.
