Goodstart Early Learning Ermington has been servicing the community for the last seven years.

It has a friendly family atmosphere. Our Centre is a lovely, cosy centre which is next door to the local primary school.

Our relationship with the local primary school (Ermington Public School) allows for our children to thrive and gain the independence required for the transition to “big school” as we often visit the kindergarten classroom, participate in the Easter hat parade and invite the principal and teachers for school readiness gatherings.

Our centre proudly displays the children’s artwork around the room's. Our rooms are always set up with fun, exciting activities.

All staff at Goodstart Early LearningErmington hold a Certificate III or higher in Child Studies and  who are  continually furthering their education.

The staff thrive and pride themselves on providing a fun and educational experience to ensure something new is happening each day.

The staff believe that creating partnerships with families will allow the children  to flourish and grow.

We have a large outdoor area with a sheltered area which makes for a lovely area to have morning and afternoon tea.

Our large outdoor space also has a fantastic sandpit which has the children digging for dinosaur bones and buried treasure.

Our wonderful cook Sheila has been with our centre for over seven years and enjoys creating meals the children enjoy. We offer meals such as Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken stir fry, Zucchini slice and many other tasty dishes. In Sheila’s years cooking here she has developed skills to create fantastic vegetarian alternatives to our dishes. Centre recipe books are extremely popular with a constant demand from families.

Our Centre comes together for many exciting, fun occasions such as Crazy hair days, School readiness gatherings, fairy dress up day, graduation, Diwali festival, Christmas party, birthdays etc.

We invite you to pop in and have a visit as we do have an open door policy and you are welcome at any time.
Suzan Baljevic
Centre Director
My name is Suzan Baljevic and I have been the proud Centre Director of Goodstart Early Learning West Ryde for two years.

I am a nearby resident of Ermington and completed my Childcare Diploma at Meadowbank TAFE in December of 2003 at a distinction level.

I have years of experience in child studies working with children aged 0-5 years.  I initially completed my first practical experience at West Ryde and in this short period of time this centre felt like my home away from home.

I am currently continuing my studies with The National Institute of Early Childhood Education as I study my advanced diploma. I believe to effectively work within a child based setting I must be able to relate and empathise to all children and their families, with respect for race, culture, age and gender.

I believe in a child-based and emergent curriculum, which considers children as individuals and empowers all children to express their own interests and abilities.

I believe that parents are essential to the successful development of their children because the parents know their children best. I believe that in all areas of the centre, parents should be involved in the decision making process of what routine their children should experience.

I believe that parent communication; written, verbal, informal and formal – is crucial in ensuring that thoughts and ideas from families are included into programming. In doing so, the link between home-life and centre life will develop into a smooth transition for the children and result in a happier, settled and confident child.

I believe that to be successful as a Centre Director there needs to be a high level of commitment, creativity, devotion, positive attitude, understanding of the children, their families, the centre and the other team members to have an efficient and effective centre.

I believe that the environment of a centre must reflect the supportive and nurturing atmosphere that the children would be accustomed to at home, therefore, the environment must be flexible and allow children to be independent.
