Welcome to Goodstart Moreton Downs!

Our early learning and long day care centre is conveniently located next to Moreton Downs State School on Gubbi Gubbi Country.

With two nurseries, a toddler room and two kindergarten classrooms, our dedicated team provides nurturing care from first crawls to school-ready steps.

Families love our long-serving educators – some with over 20 years of service – who build strong relationships with each child.

Our kindergarten program, led by a teacher with 20+ years’ experience, focuses on play-based learning and smooth Prep transitions in collaboration with Moreton Downs State School.

We embrace cultural celebrations and local events like Wunya Baby to Country and Yourtown community days to foster inclusion.

Our curriculum also focuses on mind and body health through child-friendly yoga classes.

At Goodstart Moreton Downs, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.  
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.  
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.  
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.   
At our Goodstart Moreton Downs centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Alana McHugh

Centre Director

My name is Alana and I am the Centre Director of Goodstart Early Learning at Goodstart Moreton Downs- Deception Bay.

I have been very blessed to work for the Goodstart industry for 12 years now, having started out as an assistant and continued on into other positions up until my current role as Centre Director. I have my Certificate III and Diploma of Children’s Services.

I am happily married and have two young boys of my own aged 2 and 5.

I have a passion for early childhood education and believe building strong trusting relationships and providing high quality education and care is the key to giving every child the best possible start in life. I firmly believe in the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”.
