About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Kambah.

Goodstart Kambah is located a short stroll away from Lake Tuggeranong and a local park. The Kambah professional centre is nearby and offers an array of community services including a doctor’s surgery and dental clinic. We are privileged to have beautiful views of the Brindabella Mountains from our Preschool room.

At Goodstart Kambahwe’re dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children aged 6 weeks to school age.

We offer long daycare and preschool programsand our play-based learning programs are designed to promote:

  • A child’s natural sense of enquiry

  • Literacy, numeracy and social skills

  • Creativity, problem solving and resilience

These are all critical skills needed for school and life. Quality play-based learning gives children hands-on exploration of the world around them.

Learn more about Goodstart Kambah

  • At Goodstart Kambah, we believe in fostering a love of learning from an early age. Our curriculum is designed to cater to each child's individual needs, promoting cognitive, social, and emotional development through play-based learning activities.

Being a part of our surrounding community is an important aspect of our service. We make monthly donations of unwanted goods to the local op shop, and hold fundraisers for Jeans for Genes day, Red Nose Day, and numerous other charities throughout the year.

  • Our team of experienced and dedicated educators are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children. With a focus on building strong, positive relationships, we go out of our way to see your child feel valued and supported every day. We have team members from Aboriginal, Sri-Lankan, Lebanese, Polish, Indian, Italian, and Australian backgrounds.

  • Safety is our top priority and we look after our centres. They're intentionally designed to make the best use of our early learning resources and our settings are enriching and engaging. From spacious outdoor play areas to well-appointed learning spaces, we'll have many things that meet your child's interests and individual needs.

The centre has three large playground areas containing garden beds designed and created in consultation with the children. We also have an art studio for children and families alike to enjoy, and an Indigenous Perspectives corner to teach the children more about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  • If your child attends childcare with us, they can stay with us until they start school. At Goodstart Kambah, we offer a government-assessed and approved preschool program. This curriculum is designed as a part of the Australian government's early years learning framework and it's delivered by bachelor-qualified early childhood teachers. This early education program applies across the country with school readiness in mind.

  • At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, and that includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care.

    We offer:

    • Discounts on multiple days

    • All day sessions

    • Discounted shorter sessions

    • Discounts on combined Before School and After School Care (applicable centres only)

    • Fee assistance programs for families

  • Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one key educator who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. We keep families informed with regular updates on their child's progress and we welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Shannon Maguire

Centre Director

Welcome to Goodstart Kambah my name is Shannon Maguire and I am the Centre Director.

My early childhood educator journey began in 1998, where I started in supporting roles before moving on to becoming a room leader and Early Childhood Teacher. I have been part of centre management teams for the past 15 years in roles of assistant director, Educational Leader and Centre Director. While I was working, I was studying at university, working towards my degree in teaching, where I graduated with my Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching birth to 8years) in 2012. Studying further in the profession I love, has given me the opportunity to build on my knowledge, share this with others and build strong relationships with children, families and fellow educators.

I joined the Goodstart Early learning Kambah team in November 2022 and enjoying everyday since. I am very familiar with Kambah area and community, where  I myself grew up in this area and attended school close by. My experience of growing up in this area means I can share my childhood memories with the children- Looking out the windows or being out on walks, I hope to create memories for the children like the memories of my childhood I share with them.

Working with children and becoming a teacher has been my passion goal since a very early age and I could not imagine being anything else. The best part of working in Early Childhood is that everyday is different and so rewarding! Watching children grow and learn, achieve new goals, build meaningful relationships and just have fun as they explore the world around them is amazing and precious.

I am passionate in creating a nurturing learning environment for children to explore and investigate at their own pace. My goal is to embed Indigenous Culture and learning into our spaces, where children have opportunities to engage in learning which is respectful to the Ngunnawal people.
