About Goodstart Turner
Goodstart Early Learning Centre Turner is located in a quiet leafy street close to the city centre, schools, shops and community services as well as transport routes. Our centre is licensed for 65 children per day, we are a full service centre and provide all meals, hygiene items and linens for children. We have a team of 16 comprising of Educators and Teachers which also includes a cook and administration staff. Together our team has a wealth of knowledge of early childhood education and care. At our centre we celebrate not only what brings us together but also what makes us different. Our team, children and families come from different cultural and social backgrounds. We received a rating of exceeding in all areas of the National Quality Standards in November 2017 and we pride ourselves on this rating and always endeavor to provide the best possible service for our families, children and wider community.
Our play based curriculum is supported by the Early Years’ Learning Framework and our rooms – from Nursery to Preschool – focus on developing learning opportunities for children through their play. We also develop programs founded in children’s interests that allow them to explore their own ideas and build upon their understanding, needs and strengths; and with each step we are ensuring children are ready to take the big step into schooling.
Our children are provided with new and exciting learning opportunities including sustainability practices, literacy, science and investigation, numeracy, creative arts and emotional and social development.
Our centre practices Key Educator Relationships (KER), which provides the opportunity for Educators and teachers to develop safe and secure relationships with families and children. The Key Educator supports the individual needs of their focus children, including feeding, toileting, rest/sleep and planning for learning. This relationship gives you one less thing to worry about when placing your child in our care. Our centre supports breast feeding, and if able, supporting families to continue this bond with their child. We encourage families to spend as much time as they need at the centre, either in the room with their child or in our foyer. We also encourage parents to call to see how their child is going throughout the day.
Our centre is unique, in that it is only 3 rooms. As a result of being in a small centre children are able to experience less disruptions, transitioning rooms and spending more quality time with their Key Educator. Our rooms also allow siblings to spend time together, settling into the care environment with a familiar face. Best of all we all get to know everyone who attends the centre and this has resulted in our centre having a very strong sense of belonging and community. We pride ourselves on family connections, and we love celebrating with our families and children. Throughout the year, we host morning and afternoon teas for our parents & extended family to come and celebrate with their children. We also hold many incursions at the centre including, puppet shows, tooth fairy, petting zoos, music shows, multicultural shows and anything our children show an interest in.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all arranged to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our two spaces have sandpits, water features, a bridge, stage, mud kitchen, dry creek bed, veggie patch and generous shade through well-established trees.
We welcome you to come and visit our centre and hope that you love it as much as we do.
