Careers boosted for graduate teachers at Goodstart

Careers and employment

Graduate teachers can look forward to getting a boost in their careers with the launch of Goodstart Early Learning’s new Graduate Teacher Program.

The 18-month graduate program within the Teacher Professional Program is designed to help graduates settle into their role, build their confidence and refine their teaching practice.

The program allows graduates to:
  • Access 15 hours of induction, participating in activities selected to meet graduate's specific needs for their new teacher role.
  • Design and deliver curriculum informed by children’s perspectives
  • Build a professional network, and
  • Develop professional identity and increase leadership capacity.
Goodstart’s general manager pedagogy and practice Sue Robb said graduates will develop a sense of belonging to Goodstart, understanding the ways of working and will get the chance to connect with other graduates, experienced teachers and the broader team.

Head of teacher program Katey De Gioia said the program will also allow graduates to receive mentoring support from dedicated experienced teachers to help them achieve proficient or full accreditation.

“At the culmination of the graduate program, teachers will have completed the requirements needed to achieve proficient or full teacher registration/accreditation,” Ms De Gioia said.

Becoming a teacher at Goodstart means taking part in Key Educator relationships which supports healthy attachment and best practice for children aged birth to five years old.

It also means having access to a number of supports across the Goodstart network, including the Social Inclusion Support Team to help children with additional needs; the Professional Practice Team and out of classroom time to prepare Transition to School Statements.

Teachers are offered above award pay rates at Goodstart, Australia’s largest early learning provider, and have dedicated programming time.

To be eligible for the program, teachers will need an NQF approved early childhood teaching qualification.
