Step 2 – Book a tour

It’s a good idea to visit at a few centres in your preferred location. This will help you compare services and get a feel for which one is right for you and your child.
When taking a centre tour, don’t be shy to ask…

• What steps are taken to ensure my child is safe?
• How will you support my child’s development and learning?
• How long have the educators been part of the team?

Step 3 – Understanding the fees

Most families can access funding from either the Australian government, their state government, or both.

The Australian government offers the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to help eligible families with the cost of childcare. If you’re not sure about your eligibility, visit Services Australia.

• Use our CCS Estimator to see how much Child Care Subsidy your family could be eligible for.

Step 4 – Enrolling with your centre

When you choose your preferred Goodstart centre, we’ll work with you to complete your online enrolment form. You can secure your place up to six months ahead of your preferred start date. For start dates further in the future, we’ll hold all your details on our waitlist. To complete your enrolment, you will need to:

• Make sure you’ve applied for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS).
• Provide us with a copy of your child’s Immunisation History Statement.
• Join Storypark so you can track your child’s routines, learning observations and photos throughout their day at the centre.

Step 5 – Before your first day

We encourage all new families to attend “stay and play” orientation sessions before their official first day. We’ve found this helps ease any first-day nerves and sets children up for a positive start.

During these visits, you and your child will:

• Meet the educators and other children.
• Explore our learning spaces.
• Learn about daily routines like arrivals, mealtimes and sleep routines.
