About Goodstart Carnegie
Goodstart Early Learning Carnegie is located in the beautiful inner suburban community of Carnegie. We are close to wonderful schools and abundant parklands.
We are very proud of our little centre. Looking from the street we look like a little family home, on entering you see we are a fun and exciting Centre alive with laughter and happiness.
Our staff are passionate, enthusiastic and incredibly dedicated to the children in their care. All of our Educators hold formal qualifications within the field and are comprehensively first aid trained. We pride ourselves on our ability to make children and families feel at home in our centre, ensuring a smiling familiar face is always greeting you and your child.
They all have a high level of knowledge of children’s development and different learning styles, and they provide creative and interesting curriculum activities.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - provide play-based educational programs which reflect the Early Years Learning Framework. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.
Close relationships with families enables us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This communication is also supported through the use of our StoryPark platform, making access to children’s learning, centre events, and communications extremely user friendly. Learning opportunities are tailored to each child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have two areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment. Throughout the yards we have sandpits, a digging patch, undercover areas, water play areas, natural and manmade play surfaces, a herb garden, vege patch, and frames for climbing.
All meals are prepared on site by our qualified cook who uses tasty, fresh and nutritional ingredients – we believe food is fuel and it is always our priority to provide your children with the best food to fuel their growing brains.
Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.
We are proud to be part of a pilot project called ‘Good Future’ as a design incubator looking at flexible long day care offers for families. We believe this project has brought us closer to our families and their needs. The motivation to be part of this project was to gain as much insight in the needs of families and ensure we are supporting them in the best ways we possibly can.

Kristen Craighead Centre Director
Hi there, my name is Kristen and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Carnegie.
I have been working in the Early Childhood education industry since 2004, and have been in the Centre Director role since 2009. During this time I have had many wonderful opportunities to work with a diverse range of families and educators from different areas across Victoria.
I am a mum of two young children, both who attend the service also. I can appreciate first hand how difficult the journey can be for parents looking to access an early learning centre.
My philosophy is underpinned by the belief is that all children really are the leaders of tomorrow and it is our responsibility to ensure they are set on a path for success.
The team here believe strongly that children learn best from teachers they have a strong emotional connection with. It is our priority that reciprocal relationships are built and maintained to ensure a quality learning environment.
We believe whole heartedly that family involvement and feedback is the best opportunity to gain insight into the needs and desires of our community.
