About Goodstart Payneham
At Goodstart Payneham, we strive to build trusting relationships with all our families and children and offer high quality care. Goodstart Payneham offers educational curriculums in all four rooms, which is reflected and implemented daily for all children following their interests, incorporating intentional teaching and developing all children’s abilities, needs and interests. Physical development, music and movement, sustainability and cultural awareness are also embedded into our daily practices.
The Universal Access program is offered within the kindy room, which is a government funded program which assists with children participating in incursions/excursions and purchasing new experiences for the room. At the Centre we also offer two extracurricular activities to develop children’s hand eye coordination, physical ability and following instructions: a soccer and a tennis program. A dance class is also offered to the 2-3-year old children called “Happy Feet”, the children really enjoy music and movement.
A nutritional menu is offered at the Centre each day, with our Centre cook provided 5 meals per day, breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack. Children also engage in cooking their own meals for the day, incorporating a variety of different cultural recipes into their MasterChef Classes.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication.
Our newly upgraded outdoor play space provides large areas filled with fun, challenging and open ended resources to encourage children's physical development, exploration and enquiry. We have natural spaces which allow the children to safely explore and grow a greater understanding of their surrounds, the environment and the importance of sustainability.
The continuity of educators at the Centre shows dedication to their job. Many educators have been at the Centre for 10 years or more. This is very important as the children continue to see familiar faces everyday building strong relationships.

Jessica Vatsilas Centre Director
Hi, my name is Jessica Vatsilas and I am the Centre Director for Goodstart Payneham.
I have worked in the early learning and child care sector for more than a decade. I have been with Goodstart Payneham for the last 12 years, where I was Pre-Kindy room leader and assistant director for 6 years.
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Children’s Services and am always looking to update my knowledge through additional training.
I am a mother to two amazing children, both attending Goodstart Payneham. What an amazing feeling it has been to watch my children grow and be there by their side every step of the way.
I am a passionate and dedicated person, who believes the first five years of a child’s life is the most important. At Goodstart Payneham we thrive to build trusting reciprocal relationships with both children and their families, which helps develop their sense of belonging in a new learning environment. I believe that children have the right to learn, play and build skills at their own pace and following their own interests through making their own decisions. Maintaining positive interactions builds a foundation for children to be nurtured, having a sense of agency and building a sense of security.
I believe creating a nurturing, aesthetically pleasing and safe environment, filled with developmentally appropriate curriculums and programs, will shape the first 5 years of a child’s life.
“Remember every child has their own sparkle.”
Come in and say hi, I look forward to welcoming you and your family to our centre.
