About Goodstart Whyalla
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Whyalla opened in June 2006. We are licenced for 75 children per day and have four separate areas for the children to play, grow and learn in.
We are situated on the top of a hill at the intersections of Nicolson Avenue, Beerworth Avenue and Elliott Street. We have a fantastic view of Whyalla and its surrounds and a glimpse of the ocean to the east.
Most of our educators have been at the centre since we opened and all share the same kind of community spirit that makes country regions unique. We are all involved with the community through sports, church groups or music and this provides us with the added bonus of knowing our families really well.
Our educators pride themselves on their educational and fun programs and are a very supportive of the children and their family's ever changing needs.
We invite you to book a tour
and take a look around, meet the team and explore how we can support your child’s early learning journey. We look forward to welcoming you and your family! (If the tour times available don’t suit you or your family’s commitments please contact us to organise a different time).

Rachel Perkins Centre Director
Hi, my name is Rachel Perkins and I am the Centre Director of Goodstart Early Learning Whyalla.
Before turning 40, I believed and knew that I needed a change from my retail career of almost 24 years. In 2016, I began to study my Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, whilst working fulltime and running a household of 5.
During my first placement block at Goodstart in October 2016, I decided this is where I wanted to be, I instantly felt at home. Fast forward almost 3 years’ and I am now embracing my most rewarding yet challenging career ever.
As a Centre we are focussing on our Key Educator Relationships. These relationships provide a safe and secure nurturing environment, enabling the children to learn and explore through play. It also provides the opportunity for families to have that special person that they trust and know they can turn too, when needed.
As a Centre Director, I believe in mentoring and leading my team, to help them achieve their own goals and further develop their own skills. I look forward to working alongside my Educators by creating learning rich environments that engages with families, children and the wider community.
Working in the retail industry for over 20 years has helped me to become the person that I am today. I work with honesty, integrity and a determination to be the best that I can be. I would love to have the opportunity to connect with you and your family building safe, strong reciprocal relationships as we grow together.
