Mardi Luff

Centre Director
My name is Mardi Luff, and I am the Centre Director here at Helensvale.

I have over 20 years’ experience in the early childhood sector, from a family daycare educator, 3+ year old playgroup coordinator, inclusion support facilitator, early years team leader, professional support consultant, and centre manager for both private, non-for-profit and community managed services.
I hold a Bachelor of Education Early Years (Honours) at Monash University.

My husband and I have moved to Hope Island from Melbourne, Victoria after living there for over 24 years, and I am excited to be joining an organisation who is committed to helping their community and are advocates for vulnerable children.

I am passionate about the Four Pillars of security needed in a child’s life in order for them to thrive;

People:  The adults and children in a child’s life who they have a trusting, reciprocal relationship with
Place: The places where the children feel safe and have a sense of belonging and connectedness to
Routine: Dependable routines, such as the same time they get up each day and family meal times
Ritual: The favourite story a child likes to have read at bedtime before they go to sleep or a specific toy they need to take with them to the service.

Adults also need the same Pillars of Security to support our own psychological safety.   It is my passion for psychological safety for both the children and team I am responsible for, that I embark on a Graduate Diploma of Psychology with Monash University.

Our role as early childhood educators is to cultivate curious minds in order to support your children for what is and what is yet to come in their ever changing world, through 21st century learning approaches; creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication.  We all know that young children learn best by being active participants in their own learning, therefore we will continue to provide learning environments for children to explore, investigate, hypothesise, play, problem-solve and be innovators and critical thinkers.

I look forward to building authentic, responsive and reciprocal relationships with the team, children, families and the community; to get to know the children’s individual personalities, the team’s strengths, skills and hidden talents, and to build a community of learners for both the children and the team, teaching to learn and learning to teach to help the children and educators reach their full potential.

We're very happy because Umi learned a lot and enjoyed her going to Kindy. At same time, she's sad to say 'Goodbye'. Thank you for taking care of our daughter.
