Connecting with Community on Quandamooka Country
Redlands Integrated Early Years Place hosts ‘Play Day on Quandamooka Country’ community celebration
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Norfolk Village is a purpose-built child care centre, just a short drive from the M1, offering flexible care routines and quality educational programs for children aged six weeks to 6 years.
We are a five-room child care centre – catering for Nursery through to Kindergarten. We offer flexible care routines and quality educational programs which focus on all areas of development such as social/emotional skills, maths, science and nature, language and literacy, music and movement, self-help and independence.
Our natural outdoor area includes a raised seasonal vegetable patch where we grow a range of different vegies, fruit and herbs which are used for cooking experiences and engaging children in learning about the world in which they live.
Our kindergarten is a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program this ensures they have the skills required for a smooth transition to school. The program is available to all four- to five-year-olds attending Goodstart Norfolk Village and is delivered by our university qualified teachers. All of our programs align to the Early Years Learning Framework and the Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines.
We believe the rights of the child are paramount and encourage children to be successful, capable and confident learners. We value equity, inclusion and diversity as well as Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
At Goodstart Norfolk Village, our educators work collaboratively with families and engage with the local community to create environments and programs that are inclusive, stimulating and enriching. The centre aims to promote safety, security and respect whilst providing opportunities for freedom, exploration, challenges and learning. We ensure that the role of parents is respected and supported and have high expectations for children, educators and internal service providers, and pride ourselves on our quality interactions with the children and quality programs.
The introduction of the online platform Storypark allows educators to document and share children’s learning easily and efficiently whilst providing real-time opportunities to connect and communicate with families.
At Goodstart Norfolk Village, our vision is to work with families to support their children and foster imagination, ignite natural curiosities and instil a sense of wonderment.

Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Norfolk Village. My name is Kim, and I am proud to be the Centre Director of our wonderful learning community.
I bring more than 24 years of teaching and leadership experience in early childhood education, having worked in a variety of centres across both New Zealand and the Gold Coast. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting children, families, and educators while leading teams to create high-quality learning environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
I graduated from the Auckland College of Education in 2001 with a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) in Early Childhood Education. Prior to beginning my teaching career, I worked as a Personal Assistant for a management consultant who specialised in training senior leaders in customer service, communication, leadership, and teamwork. This experience helped shape my strong belief in the power of positive relationships and effective communication.
Building trusting, respectful, and genuine relationships is at the heart of everything I do. I believe open and honest communication is the foundation of strong partnerships with children, families, educators, and the wider community. Creating connections where everyone feels heard, respected, and supported is something I am deeply passionate about.
As a lifelong learner, I am committed to continually growing my knowledge and professional practice. I regularly participate in webinars, workshops, and professional learning opportunities to stay informed about current research, emerging trends, and best practices in early childhood education. I believe that ongoing learning enables me to provide the highest quality support for children, families, and educators while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within our centre.
My teaching philosophy has been strongly influenced by New Zealand's early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki, which views children as competent and confident learners and communicators, secure in their sense of belonging and valued for the contributions they make to their world. This aligns closely with Australia's Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which aims to support children to become confident and creative learners, active participants in their communities, and lifelong learners. I strongly believe that the way we view children shapes the opportunities we provide for them and the relationships we build with them.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to our beautiful centre and partnering with you to support your child's learning, growth, and wellbeing.
