High quality early learning: Spotlighting the 2025 Goodstart Centre of the Year
Skilled educators and teachers shaping futures every day.
Goodstart Early Learning Roma is located centrally in our beautiful rural town of Roma. Community is fundamental to our service as we proudly value children as being the heart of everything we do.
Our service is open Monday to Friday 6am – 6pm, 52 weeks a year (excluding public Holidays). We cater for 74 children daily from six weeks to 5years, with an approved Kindergarten program that assists in supporting the transition of children to school. All children are provided nutritious meals daily which are cooked in centre by our talented centre cook.
Our early learning context supports scaffolding children’s learning and development through quality interactions with peers, educators, families and community services. In the overall attempt to pave the way for an exploratory understanding of themselves, the world around them and their place in it (Being, Belonging, Becoming). Our educational programs are reflective of emergent curriculum and adhere to guidelines set by ACECQA, National Quality Framework, The Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Guidelines.
Our philosophy is underpinned by the foundation that each child is unique, naturally creative, capable and masters in their learning journey. Our approach fosters children’s interests, language and development and is led by connection with children, families, and the wider community. We value to support all children. We take a holistic and inclusive approach to caring for and educating our children and foster our foundation of learning through relationship connection, our ‘key educator’ approach.
Our educators endeavour to create a setting in which children will develop a sense of safety, security, and support. Our early learning environments encourage opportunities for self discovery, supporting children's individual needs, interests, and abilities. We believe all children have the right to be treated equally and with respect, regardless of race, language, ability, or gender. We acknowledge the value of establishing a purposeful alliance with children's families and are committed to working together with families to co create productive relationships. We understand that children learn best when the program reflects their interests and has meaning for them personally and plan our program based on careful observations of each child’s individual knowledge, ideas, culture, abilities, and interests. We believe outdoor education fosters a sense of community and adventure, encourages exploration, risk taking and fosters caring for nature. We understand that learning can spark within the magic of moments every day and it is our job to “enable each moment, as it’s an unknown journey and will never be repeated”.
We believe in developing our philosophy alongside families, children, educators and community members. We are committed to role modelling and teaching children to care and respect the land in which they learn and play, through connection and acknowledgement of country and the traditional landowners, the Mandandanji people, through embedded daily practices and cultural incursions, to enrich children’s awareness and sense of connection.

I hold a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and have spent the past six years as part of the Goodstart management team, where I have built strong and meaningful relationships with families, educators, and the wider Roma community.
My approach to leadership and education is grounded in the belief that high‑quality early learning lays the foundation for lifelong success. I am passionate about delivering programs guided by the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework, ensuring that our practices support each child’s sense of belonging, identity, and love of learning. I strongly believe that early childhood experiences should be positive, enriching, and nurturing - shaping children’s confidence and attitudes toward learning well into the future.
I value the importance of strong, reciprocal partnerships with families, recognising that families are their child’s first teachers. By working together, we can create a supportive and consistent environment that leads to the best outcomes for all children. I am dedicated to fostering an environment where every child feels safe, respected, and empowered to explore, discover, and grow.
As a leader, I am committed to building a centre culture where educators feel valued, supported, and heard. I believe that a passionate, collaborative, and highly skilled team is central to creating a centre that families are proud to be part of. My goal is to cultivate a warm, inclusive, and high‑quality learning environment that reflects the strengths, voices, and aspirations of our entire community.
I look forward to welcoming you to Goodstart Roma and partnering with you on your child’s early learning journey. It is a privilege to play a role in shaping such an important and exciting chapter of their development.

At Roma, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our centre offers a kindergarten program and long day care under the one roof. Our kindergarten teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.
