Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Penfield is an interactive, experience-based centre located just behind the RAAF base and within the convenience of suburbia. Its 12 acres of land gives children the opportunity to be immersed in a natural, rural environment.
We have large grassed outdoor play areas for children with a chicken coop and a large community garden. All of the children are extensively involved in feeding the chickens, collecting the eggs, maintaining the community garden, harvesting the vegetables and using them in our cooking. The children often go on nature walks around the 12 acre property to collect items for our play and to just be a part of the natural environment. We are also lucky to have a variety of native animals on the property which we often see when exploring.
Children in our centre have the opportunity to experience other cultures within the centre and local community to encourage a strong sense of inclusion and acceptance. We offer a variety of learning experiences to support understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and have developed a Reconciliation Action Plan to support our learning. We believe in providing children with a stimulating and challenging program of learning experiences that will extend their skills and interests while learning through play.
At Goodstart Penfield, we strongly believe in supporting children’s developing life skills through unique, hands on experiences and our program is developed in line with the Early Years Learning Framework. Our learning philosophy is that the experience should be fun, developed in partnership with parents and meeting the individual needs and interests of the child.
Our centre caters for up to 85 children a day in rooms from Nursery, through to Toddler Rooms and Preschool. We strive to develop strong relationships with all of our families and consider the care and education we provide is something of an extension of the family unit.
