About our centre

We are a large, bright and vibrant Centre located close to the CBD of Dandenong. We are close to public transport, schools and East Link. Currently we have six spacious age appropriate rooms, where our early learning educators pride themselves on providing a stimulating, educational program in line with the Victorian Early Years’ Learning and development Framework – focusing on children 6 weeks to school age and up to 8 years during school holidays.

Our centre runs a funded Kindergarten program with a fully qualified kindergarten teacher 5 days a week. We can look after your child from 6 weeks until they are ready to start school. They leave us prepared to take on school with confidence.

We have a team of caring, funny, dedicated educations who speak a variety of languages including Hindi, Punjabi, Singhalese, Hungarian, Croatian, Tamil, Urdu and Mandarin.

Our educational programs are based on the children's individual strengths, needs and learning skills and our educators support positive learning, building strong relationships and supporting a strong self-esteem.

We run an indoor/outdoor program allowing children to choose to play inside or outside. We also give the children a choice of when they would like to eat by having progressive meal times.

This is made simpler through our intuitive Storypark platform, which enables us to maintain consistent and clear communications with families. Hence, we are better placed to support a child in their learning journey, ensuring parents have peace of mind. The program enables us to time stamp the children’s developments, milestones and achievements.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our outdoor learning spaces have great equipment, and fun things to do that both support children's physical, social and intellectual development.

We have a wonderful cook on premises five days a week and we provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. The meals that we provide are halal, healthy and nutritious and we also cater for children who have allergies to certain foods and specific dietary requirements.

We constantly support and invite parent input, suggestions and feedback through all communication links. The centre values all input and feel we can build a stronger sense of community within our centre by listening to our families. Our centre is in the process of implementing a community pantry for our vulnerable families and a breakfast club will be up and running soon.

We are lucky enough to have a community room that we use for our Playgroup. We run this service in conjunction with our local council on a Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We are offering this service to local vulnerable families in our community enhancing our connections with our community. Dandenong Neighbourhood House help us to facilitate a family support group in this space, giving opportunities for local families to improve their situations by way of social interactions and adult classes.

Our Centre holds children’s learning in the highest regard and so we have highly qualified in and out of ratio Early Childhood Teachers on our staff who assist in ensuring the learning environment is at its peak. We also have a child and family practitioner, a speech pathologist and an occupational therapist working closely with our educators to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children in our care.

We are an EChO centre, meaning we work at enhancing children’s outcomes. We welcome children from all cultural, developmental and familial backgrounds as we believe ALL children deserve the right to quality early learning education despite their varying backgrounds.”

We invite you to come and visit our centre to meet our team and to see for yourself our commitment to your child’s early learning journey.

Vickie Scullion

Centre Director

Hi, my name is Vickie, and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Dandenong Princess Highway.

I have been in the Early Childhood sector for almost 23 years, 13 of those years as a Centre Director.

I am very passionate and dedicated to my role as a Centre Director, and I believe in the importance of providing a centre that displays a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment that will enhance all children’s learning and give them the best possible start through their early years.

Working in an Echo centre has increased my ability to make stronger connections to the community and help provide better living opportunities for many of the families enrolled at the service. Being able to liaise with a variety of Allied health professionals has opened opportunities, that have given me tools to make a difference in the lives of many children.

“A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom, create the environment and empower children with opportunities to learn and grow.”
