About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Woodend is located within the picturesque township of Woodend, we are nearby the Woodend train station which makes it convenient for families who commute to work via public transport.

Our centre is a 60 place centre consisting of 4 indoor and 3 outdoor learning play spaces. Our dedicated team thrive to provide an educational program while learning through play.

Our team consists of qualified Certificate III and Diploma childhood educators in addition to our Bachelor qualified Early Childhood (Kindergarten) teachers, providing a funded kindergarten program. Within our Kindergarten Program children have the opportunity to participate in a number of exciting incursions and excursions. These consist of but are not limited to weekly music sessions, primary and nursing home excursions.

Inside, all of the rooms  - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Our play areas have sandpits, a fort, vege patches, cubbyhouses, tan bark area, worm farms, a balance of natural and manmade play surfaces and lots of shade.

We have a qualified cook who cooks fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children each day. The centre provides all meals during the day, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.

At Goodstart Woodend we are committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships amongst our local community and taking advantage of the natural environment we live in through our educational program.

We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your family and learn a little about how we can best support you on the journey of lifelong learning.

Anita Anderson

Assistant Director

Hi, my name is Anita Anderson I am the Assistant Director and Educational Leader here at Goodstart Woodend.

Here at Goodstart Woodend our Service Philosophy encapsulates who we are as a service. It defines our pedagogical beliefs, values, and practices. It highlights how we enhance and build children’s learning and development in consultation with families, educators, and the wider Woodend Community. We believe that children learn best in a safe, secure environment that enables them to build strong relationships and attachments with their educators and peers.

Our service prides itself in creating a child led play-based learning environment where children have agency, and freedom to share their voices, opinions, and ideas. Children’s voices are the foundation of how we build rich, high-quality programs and curriculums for all children across the service. Through experience we believe children learn best using a strength and child-based approach where children’s interests are planned for in ways that best suits each individual child’s interests, needs and abilities. We believe in providing children with opportunities that are highly engaging, interesting and provide children with intrigue and wonder.

At Goodstart Woodend, we believe community partnerships and engagements are of great importance to the learning and development of young children. We have a variety of members from the community who regularly visit our service. Community engagements provide children with a sense of belonging to their community, opportunities for networking with their community and to learn about their world and surroundings in which they play, learn, and thrive.
