About our centre

Our centre is located in the local community of Parmelia in the city of Kwinana, conveniently located near the Kwinana Train Station and the Marketplace. We educate and care for children between six weeks and five years old across four indoor learning spaces. The learning environments at Goodstart Parmelia are designed with a focus on creating warm and welcoming spaces that stimulate the children's curiosity and encourage growth.

Our nursery learning space caters for babies aged six weeks to two years. Our nursery educators are kind and nurturing with many years of experience between them. The nursery room opens onto a courtyard as well as the main yard. This allows the babies to explore the outside environment without being in direct sunlight or when the weather is a little too wet to be in the main yard. We have a separate room for older babies. This allows us to adjust the children's routine for a smoother transition to the toddlers room.

The toddler learning space is a beautiful room set up to allow our curious toddlers to explore. The room has many different zones/areas set up to meet the needs and interests of our always developing two year olds. Self-help and independence are a big focus in this age group with the guidance of our dedicated and amazing educators. The toddlers' yard is beautiful and natural with space to run and explore. The children tend to the veggie garden and also help with our composting system.

Our kindy learning space allows for our three to five year olds to develop necessary skills in preparation for going to school in a fun, play-based way. Our Early Childhood Teacher and Qualified Room Leader develop the program to stimulate the children and engage them in play and activities, setting them up for the years to come in a school environment.

Our centre prides itself on our sustainable practices with the environments having vegetable gardens, worm farms and a composting station. Produce from the gardens is collected by the children or our centre food coordinator to be used in our centre kitchen. Waste is put into the compost or worm farms to then go back on our gardens to start the process again. The children love being a part of this process and always put their hands up to help out.

Our early learning educational programs cater to each individual child's stage of development.  Our curriculum is centred around the Early Years Learning Framework and is tailored to your child's unique strengths, needs and interests.

With a highly experienced team on board, Goodstart Parmelia offers your family high quality early learning and care. All of our experienced educators hold formal qualifications, including Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching degrees, Certificate III and Diplomas in Children’s Services, and are passionate about delivering a leading early learning curriculum in a welcoming and inspiring environment. Our school readiness goals focus on supporting children to transition to school, and we have close connections with local schools such as North Parmelia and Bertram.

We use Storypark to share your child's learning. This industry leading program lets you see the learning experiences of your child and allows you to interact with educators to enable real connections between what your child learns at Goodstart Parmelia, and what happens at home.

Through our recent Assessment and Ratings visit we were awarded a high level of Meeting across all 7 Quality Areas. We are aiming to achieve the Exceeding Rating next time around.

We have a large car park located right outside the centre’s doors for convenient drop offs and pick-ups.

Public Holidays: Closed (no charge if it falls on one of your booked days).

Stephanie Young

Centre Director

Kaya, my name is Stephanie Young and I am the Centre Director here at Goodstart Parmelia.

I hold a Diploma of Children’s Services and have been working with children for over 15 years in many different roles from Assistant Educator, Lead Educator, Educational Leader, Assistant Director and now Centre Director.
I love watching children grow and develop and what really drives my passion for Early Childhood Education and Care is creating happy early memories for children that will last a lifetime and ensuring that each child has a safe space here at day care. The team at Parmelia are exploring Key Educator Relationships to ensure each child feels safe, secure and respected at care and that each family has a strong relationship with the educators to ensure that each child’s needs are met.
We have a beautiful natural environment at Parmelia, including a new and improved outdoor space, and I would love to show you around our Learning Environments and introduce you to our team.
