Family fun day a celebration of 23 years
A family fun day for the whole community has been held to celebrate Goodstart Gladstone – Toolooa Street's 23rd birthday.
Since first opening its doors in 1994 the centre has been providing children with high quality early learning experiences.
Centre director Marlies Coleman, who has worked in the early childhood sector for 25 years, said the centre took pride it nurturing close relationships with families and children.
“We have a very multicultural centre, with educators and families from nearly 30 different nationalities part of our Goodstart family. Having a culturally diverse team we are able to develop great relationships with all of our families who attend the centre,” Ms Coleman said.
To celebrate the milestone, the centre organised a family fun day on Saturday 8 April 2017.
The event was attended by families, children, and businesses from the local community.
The children enjoyed a jumping castle, art and craft activities, face painting, a colouring competition, and a sausage sizzle. There was also a special visit from the Gladstone firefighters and the Toolooa Street Turtle who gave out Easter eggs to the children and families.
“Our family fun day was filled with market stalls which included food and coffee vans, information stalls, as well as live entertainment by James Butterworth a local musician. We also had lots of different activities that kept the children entertained for hours,” Ms Coleman said.
“It was a great day with over 200 people attending our celebration. The community involvement and spirit was great to see. We received lots of positive comments about the day from families, which made it all worth it.”
“Our team is so grateful to our many wonderful families and to local organisations, schools and community groups who have all been part of our journey over the past 23 years."
