Brisbane Adelaide Street opens its doors

Goodstart centres

When you think about a childcare centre, you wouldn’t usually think of floor to ceiling glass, a roof-top playground and a heritage-listed facade.

But these are all features of the largest Goodstart Early Learning centre in Australia, with 207 places in Adelaide St, Brisbane.

Children at Brisbane Adelaide Street will be able to serve themselves lunch and dine in the restaurant-style piazza while eating dishes created by Peruvian chef Eddie Pacheco.

They’ll also be able to enjoy excursions to the City Botanic Gardens, Roma Street Parkland and the city Farmer’s Markets.

The centre, which opened today, was designed as a tropical oasis in the heart of Brisbane city and features mechanically-controlled sky lights, vegetable patches in the playground and a rooftop garden.

Children can push the buttons in the waterplay area and watch as water comes out of the ceiling and walls. A treehouse in the middle of the centre has a slide, and there is a spider web climber and tunnels.

It has 14 separate classrooms, catering to all age groups from babies to kindergarten, which all open to the playground which incorporates nature and areas for exploration and learning.

The centre is directly above H&M with secure lift entry from Adelaide St and a basement carpark for safe drop off and pick up. In the middle of Brisbane’s vibrant shopping district, it is within easy walking distance of bus, train and CityCat transport.
