New outdoor play space delights at Goodstart Aspley
Goodstart Aspley has unveiled its nursery and toddler playground, much to the delight of the young children who now have a new outdoor play area to explore, enjoy and learn in.
Designed in part by educators, children and families of Goodstart with the help of a landscape architect, the playground upgrade includes a purpose-built new play area for the centre’s nursery and toddler rooms with age-appropriate play equipment and spaces for children aged from six weeks to two years.
Featuring a new sandpit, timber decking and storage area, new astro turf, a tactile pathway and rubber underlay for safety, new gardens and a new security fence, the upgrade has created new opportunities for play-based learning.
Centre director Michelle Buchanan said outdoor and physical play was an important part of a child’s development in the early years.
“Our recent upgrade has given the centre a completely fresh new look, and our families are as delighted as we are with the improvements. It was a real collaborative effort to design the new playground space, so it has been wonderful to see our vision turned into reality,” Ms Buchanan said.
“Outdoor play spaces provide greater opportunities for children to explore, take on challenges to test their skills and abilities that might not be available to them indoors. The layout of our new playground allows children to flow from one activity to another, which encourages them to explore their own interests and solve problems as they move around.
“It’s wonderful to have created a space for children to provide them with that all important connection to nature, and to inspire their curiosity about the natural environment,” she said.
Goodstart Aspley, at 792 Zillmere Rd, is a 74-place centre and is currently accepting enrolments in its nursery, toddler, pre-kindy and kindergarten programs. Families wishing to arrange a tour of the newly upgraded facilities should contact the centre directly.
