Educator nominated for work in early childhood education

Goodstart Corowa educational leader Lisa Raggett has been recognised for outstanding work in early childhood education and care with a nomination for the Early Childhood Australia NSW Riverina Branch Achiever award.

Ms Raggett was selected from hundreds of nominees as one of 15 finalists for New South Wales.

The Early Childhood Australia NSW Riverina Branch achiever award is given to a person involved in early childhood education who has made a difference to children, educators and/or families.

Centre director Carol Heffernan said while Ms Raggett had not won the award, the community was determined to give her the recognition she deserved.

“Lisa has worked as an early childhood educator for 22 years and has been a loyal member of our team for the past 16 years,” Ms Hefferman said.

“Lisa is passionate about early childhood education, she is an advocate for children and ensures each child she teaches receives an outstanding high quality early childhood education.

 “We are very proud of Lisa, she is a wealth of knowledge in the industry and an absolute asset for our service,” she said.

Ms Hefferman said Ms Raggett’s involvement in the community, including helping schools with transitioning preschools and mentoring university and TAFE students.

Ms Raggett said she was thrilled to be nominated by her colleagues.

“I am very passionate about what I do, it has never been about awards for me but always about the wonderful children that we have in care.”

She was nominated by the educators at Goodstart Corowa for her continued and outstanding work in early childhood education and care.
