National Tree Day helps grow little green thumbs at Hope Island

Goodstart centres

Children from as young as two years of age have rolled up their sleeves, put on their gardening gloves and connected with nature on National Tree Day.

Goodstart Hope Island teamed up with their local Bunnings who kindly donated a number of plants for children to plant around their early learning centre and also to take some home to plant in their own yards. Local MP David Crisafulli, has also donated plants for the children and joined them for the planting activities.

Centre director Pollyann Webb said Tree Day was a great opportunity to do something positive with children while giving back to their local environment.

“As educators of our future generations, it’s so important we instil a deep appreciation of our unique environment and teach children to care for nature,” Ms Webb said.

“Children are the future custodians of our environment, so we wanted to do something inspiring to help educate them. National Tree Day is a wonderful nature care event to get behind and we are very grateful for the support of Bunnings and our local Member who has made our Tree Day come to life.”
