And while this can be a perfectly normal part of a child's development, it can be hard to know what to do (or how to keep calm) when emotions are running high.
Goodstart Early Learning partnered with Dr Justin Coulson PhD to develop two virtual parenting sessions that unpack the reasons why children have meltdowns, and what families can do to help restore peace.

Session One: Supporting children’s behaviours with Dr Justin Coulson PhD
Dr Coulson will share advice for parents and caregivers around:

Session Two: Managing our emotions as parents when our children have challenging behaviours with Dr Justin Coulson PhD
Dr Coulson will explore:
- The psychology behind your child’s meltdowns
- The five reasons why it feels like your child isn’t listening to you
- 10 tips and listening hacks that will really make a difference
- Simple strategies to remain calm and communicate effectively

The sessions are available on demand for both Goodstart families and the wider community through Goodstart at Home. Goodstart at Home is a place to enrich and extend your child’s learning at home, all through play! All the activities available have been developed by our incredibly experienced early childhood education experts and is only $1 per month for all non-Goodstart families, and free for Goodstart families.
