We pay above-industry award rates

Our Teachers are paid wages that are on par with the state primary school system. 

Our Educators are paid above award wage rates, and recently received wage increases of up to 5.6%.

  • Our Enterprise Agreement was approved by the Fair Work Commission and covers our centre employees, so you can be confident our pay and conditions are locked in. 

    • Early learning and care discounts:  receive up to 50% off your childcare gap fees (with no impact on your Child Care Subsidy rate).
    • Flexible work options:  Flexible shifts and the option to purchase four weeks additional leave each year.
    • Health and wellbeing support: Two wellbeing days included in your personal leave each year so you can put yourself first and discounts on private health insurance with Bupa and memberships with Goodlife Health Clubs and Fitness First.

      • Educators receive at least 5% above the award rate
      • Teachers are paid on par with state primary schools
      • Centre Directors receive 10% above the award rate
    • Tax benefits through salary packaging: We partner with Salary Solutions – a great way to pay for expenses with money from your salary before tax is taken out.
    • Comprehensive leave entitlements:  In addition to annual leave, Goodstart offers a broad range of paid leave entitlements including: 
      • Personal / carer’s leave
      • 4 weeks Paid parental leave (increasing to 6 weeks in December 2023)
      • Compassionate leave
      • Community service leave
      • Ceremonial leave
      • Domestic violence leave

    You may also be eligible for other types of leave, such as study leave and leave without pay.

    • Financial support when you need it most: We have partnered with Good Shepherd who provide financial hardship support and no-interest loans towards rent and utilities.
    • Extra allowances: We believe extra responsibility should be rewarded. So, we offer additional allowances for our nominated Educational Leaders, Teacher Mentors, and those Centre Directors who are also the nominated Teacher.
  • Employee Assistance: At Goodstart, we recognise our people are critical to our success. Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all Goodstarters and their immediate family members. This free independent counselling service is available 24/7.

    • Thrive program: Our program supports hundreds of educators to study towards their Bachelor degrees
    • Learn while you earn: We provide options to gain Certificate and Diploma qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care through our partnerships with Registered Training Organisations
