Employee benefits at Goodstart
We're committed to supporting, recognising and rewarding our people in ways that really matter.
From the right tools, resources and training, to extras like admin support, health care, retail and service benefits as well as a good work-life balance, Goodstart has the reach to offer much more to our people than most other early learning employers.
We pay above-industry award rates
Our Teachers are paid wages that are on par with the state primary school system.
Our educators recently received a 3% wage increase, rising to 5 per cent by 2024.
Of course, as you continue to grow in your profession and in your career you will enjoy opportunities for further remuneration increases.
Our Enterprise Agreement was approved by the Fair Work Commission and covers our centre employees, so you can be confident our pay and conditions are locked in.
Early learning and care discounts: We offer generous discounts to our people – receive up to 50% off your Goodstart gap fees (with no impact on your Child Care Subsidy rate).
Flexible work options: Juggling the demands of work and family is tough. We get that, and we help where we can with flexible shifts and the option to purchase four weeks additional leave each year, giving you more time for family and fun.
Great deals to save you money: We partner with some big names to offer you travel discounts including lounge membership, car hire and accommodation as well as awesome technology, mobile, fuel and retail discounts to save you every day!
Health and wellbeing support: Early learning and care is demanding work. To ensure you can be your best we offer our people two wellbeing days off a year. Plus we’ve teamed up with Bupa to help you achieve your health and wellbeing goals and get a better deal on your private health insurance. And if you’re a gym junkie, we get discounts with Goodlife Health Clubs and Fitness First too.
Tax benefits through salary packaging: We know how important it is to make your pay go further, so we partner with Salary Solutions for salary packaging – a great way to pay for expenses with money from your salary before tax is taken out.
Financial support when you need it most: To offer some extra support for our people and families, we have partnered with Good Shepherd, Australia’s oldest not-for-profit supporting women and families. Good Shepherd provides financial hardship support and no-interest loans towards rent and utilities.
Employee Assistance: At Goodstart, we recognise our people are critical to our success. In recognition of the valuable role that all our people play, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to all Goodstarters and their immediate family members. This is an unlimited service supporting our managers and team members, as well as providing on-site support following critical incidents.
Professional development days: We encourage our educators and centre support team members to continuously learn and grow their skills and experience. We offer professional development opportunities throughout the year to keep up to date on leading-edge practices.
Extra allowances: We believe extra responsibility should be rewarded. So, we offer additional allowances for our nominated Educational Leaders, Teacher Mentors, and those Centre Directors who are also the nominated teacher.
Comprehensive leave entitlements: We give our people time to relax and additional support when personal commitments pop up. In addition to annual leave, Goodstart offers a broad range of paid leave entitlements including:
- Personal / carer’s leave
- 4 weeks Paid parental leave (increasing to 6 weeks in December 2023)
- Compassionate leave
- Community service leave
- Ceremonial leave
- Domestic violence leave
You may also be eligible for other types of leave, such as study leave and leave without pay.
