About Goodstart Albany
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Albany is conveniently located near the heart of the Albany CBD, on the corner of a nice quiet leafy cross road. We are close to many amenities such as Pharmacy, Pioneer Doctors Surgery, Gym and Rainbow Coast Neighbourhood Centre.
We are a purpose built service, with five large rooms, a kitchen and cook, and enough play space outdoors for children to discover and explore at their will. We are fortunate enough to have two Nursery Rooms where we can tailor our learning programs to suit the age groups of our foundation years. Nursery 1 (6wks – 15 months), Nursery 2 (15 months – 24 months) and then we have our Toddlers room with our terrific twos (2yrs – 3yrs), and our Preschool 2 2 (4yrs – 5yrs).
Our teaching team has an abundance of experience and skills with Highly Qualified and nurturing educators. We are proud to offer a Kindergarten program that caters for our Transitioning children to mainstream educational facilities and supports their learning Development in their Early Years Education.
We embrace the Early Years Learning Framework by supporting each child’s individual learning and development through a play based curriculum that is central to all practices of the service. We believe that play based learning provides opportunities for children to learn through a method, that is natural to them and is intrinsically motivated and not forced upon them.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have three areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment. With beautiful trees for natural shade as well as sandpits, bike paths, swings, a wooden fort, bark pit area, pet guinea pigs and vege patches, we offer a spacious and interesting environment for children to play and explore.
We also have a beautiful indigenous cultural garden which enhances our commitment to sustainability, cultural understanding and community diversity.
Goodstart Albany acknowledges the diversity of the community and therefore cater to all within the service. Our educators also extend from a diverse background and this is reflected in all that we do at the centre. We acknowledge that all children have the right to an education and we strive to ensure that a Quality Practice is delivering such a service to the community.

Lana Penny Centre Director
Kaya Kaya and Hello! I'm Lana and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Albany.
I have been in the early learning sector since 1990 and I have lived in Albany since early 2015 coming from the North West.
I am a Diploma qualified educator and throughout my career I have had the opportunity to gain skills across all age groups and in a variety of different areas within the industry.
I marvel in my profession every day and have passion for every new experience I am involved in. My experience in early childhood education involves teaching in remote communities and learning more about our Culture through hands on experiences in various capacities such as Teacher, Mentor and Director.
As the old saying goes “The World is our Oyster” and what I am able to teach to children can be their most valuable assets and the start of their educational journey.
For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth, whether it is professional or personal, and to share my own passion for learning with my fellow colleagues.
I feel there is a need for compassionate, strong and dedicated individuals, who are excited about working with children. In our society, it is important for educators to not only receive a solid platform when learning, but to work with someone who is aware of and sensitive to their needs and the needs of the children and families. I believe I am this person, and will always strive to be the best Educator, Mentor and Director I can be.
At Goodstart Albany we promote the exploration, discovery and play spaces for each child to capture the true essence of their childhood and learning.
We warmly welcome new families, so please stop by! We would love to explore how we can support you and your child on their pathway to lifelong learning.
