Goodstart Bertram
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Bertram is located in a safe but convenient area, close to schools and shops as well as transport routes and community services.
We have a dedicated team of qualified educators who provide a quality early learning program in all environments. All our rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - have qualified group leaders who lead their team of assistants.
We also have a full time Early Childhood Teacher who runs our Kindergarten program. Our educators pride themselves on creating programs that give children a strong sense of identity and well-being to become confident and involved learners. They acknowledge that children learn in a variety of ways and vary in their capabilities and pace of learning.

Each room is set up in line with the Early Years Learning Framework and reflects the personal learning style of children and educators in the environment and evidence of the children’s learning can be seen throughout the environments. We actively involve families in our programs and continuously ask for feedback and input.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

We have three separate outdoor play areas which allow the children to play within a safe environment. These areas change and features are moved and added as the learning program determines - and the children play an important role in the planning of each space. This gives them an appreciation of their surrounds, an understanding of the environment and helps foster in them a sense of sustainability.
Our centre cook prepares nutritionally balanced meals that are made fresh daily on the premises. We cater separately for children with special Dietary requirements. Our centre cook holds a Certificate in Safe Food Handling.

My name is Claire Shellam and I am very proud to be the Centre Director of Goodstart Early Learning Bertram.
I have always loved working with children and over the years this experience has really supported and affirmed my belief that early education was the right career path for me.
I'm a proud mum of three beautiful children. My experience as a mum has supported and confirmed my belief that children flourish when they are in a loving, valued and cherished environment.
I began my career in Early Education straight out of high school, more than 20 years ago, on a Traineeship. I have been lucky enough to have spent time in various roles within this sector and apply all of my experience to leading a high performing team of Educators to deliver the best outcomes for our children and families.
My philosophy is built around trusting relationships, inclusiveness to ensure everyone feels a sense of belonging and that no child is left behind. I ensure a warm and nurturing approach as children flourish when they are in a loving, supporting environment and feel a safe sense of belonging that links to community and the world around us.
I believe in following the children's lead, in a fun and curious way that is play based and nature focused. All children are curious little learners, and it is our role to support their curiosity in a safe and fun way that is tailored to the individual.
The first five years are critical for child development, and I adore watching them grow and develop in those early years.
This is why I have chosen a career in early learning and care and I look forward in meeting you soon.
