Close community, nature, and family life for educators in Tasmania
Kadie Cunningham, Assistant Director of Goodstart Kings Meadows, moved back for a better life.
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Blackburn South is a purpose built child care centre located in a residential area close to schools and shops; quiet and safe but also convenient for the daily drop-off and pick-up.
It is 60 place centre split into four rooms. Our educators are all qualified, dedicated and passionate who have worked here between two and ten years. They have many memories to share and represent themselves as a big warm family who love caring for and educating children. We treat this centre as our home and take pride in what we do.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. Throughout our two areas we have sandpits, garden beds, vege patches, cubbyhouses, a worm farm and book corner.
We also have a cook on premises five days a week and we provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. The meals that we provide are healthy and nutritious and we also cater for children who have allergies to certain foods.
Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.
Come in and see for yourself how we can help give your child the best start in life – and give you peace of mind! We would love the chance to show you around.
My career in Early Learning:
I studied at Swinburne TAFE and received my Diploma of Children’s services in 2015, I have worked here at Goodstart Blackburn South for 15 years.
I started out as a Room Leader working in the Nursery room for 10 years, I have now been in the Centre Director role for the last 5 years.
â—¾ Care and Empathy for children
â—¾ Love and Comfort for all children
I strongly believe that your child’s first experiences in early childhood education should be positive as it establishes their attitude for learning for their whole life.
Children should feel safe and secure in their environment and should have really strong bonds with the Educators that care for them. We encourage families to call in to visit us at any time.
Our centre prides itself on the array of cultures we have within our Team and within our families who attend the centre.
The people! From a quick morning hello, to the amazing support given by all our wonderful families who attend our centre and the supporting businesses around us.
When I’m not in the centre, you’ll find me being a busy Mumma of 3 year old girl/boy twins, enjoying coffee with friends and being around my family.
At Goodstart Blackburn South, we strive to provide a safe, peaceful and natural environment for the children, lots of dedicated Educators who have been here for more than 20 years and comforting arms to walk into every day.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family.
