Close community, nature, and family life for educators in Tasmania
Kadie Cunningham, Assistant Director of Goodstart Kings Meadows, moved back for a better life.
Our centre is located in the leafy suburb of Boronia, Melbourne. The centre is easily accessible with bus stops right at our front door and we have loads of off-street parking. Our centre consists of trained and experienced educators, with a majority of us having the minimum qualification of our Diploma in Children’s Services.
We believe that children learn through play and our educators facilitate this learning by providing experiences based on the individual interests and strengths of each child.
Our goal is to ensure an environment that is highly inclusive by fostering each child’s development from where they are at, in all domains of development.
We believe the centre is part of the families’ community and all families are invited to actively involve themselves in the curriculum. Our open-door policy encourages our families to stay and play, as well as inviting family participation through our various centre events, excursions, incursions, family days and social events.
Our centre offers newly renovated large outdoor environments for each age group. We embrace this resource by undertaking indoor/outdoor play daily. Our educators use outdoor time to implement activities which allow children time to develop both physically, socially and emotionally through play. A combination of intentional teaching experiences and free-play time for learning and development stimulates the children’s growing curiosities and supports their interests.
In our Kindergarten setting we provide a wide variety of incursions, once a month, at no extra cost. These range from drama workshops to woodwork and sports sessions. We also provide some incursions across all age groups annually, such as animal visits. The Kindergarten group also go on a number of excursions away from the centre, some walking excursions and some longer trips by bus.
We would love to meet you so feel free to bring your family in for a tour of Goodstart Boronia.
I relocate and transferred from Western Australia (Perth) from the New Years in 2021 and continued my journey here in Boronia. I moved from Singapore to Perth in 2009 and started my career with Goodstart since 2010. It has been a great experienced and wonderful journey with the organisation.
I have worked with all age groups enjoying various roles throughout my career which has provided me with great understanding, knowledge and experience. I completed my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Curtin University in 2015. As an experienced educator, leader and a mother to 2 beautiful girls myself, I am well aware how much every parent wants a caring, loving, safe nurturing environment for their children, especially when it comes to the Early Learning Sector. I am excited about the challenges of being a critical part of your child’s future, and I hold great pride working with Families on establishing positive relationships, trust, respect and understanding.
I look forward to meeting you all to start my journey along with you at Goodstart to provide your child with care and education they truly deserve.
