|Goodstart Early Learning Ferntree Gully is situated in close proximity to parks, local primary schools, Mountain Gate and Knox Westfield Shopping centres. There is a bus stop right out the front of our centre and train stations within a 5 minute drive.
All our educators are qualified and dedicated with some of our educators being at our centre for 5, 10 years or more. We also strive to ensure that we assist in training our educators so at all times we have one trainee employed, and welcome students for placement. We believe that the first five years are the most important in a child’s development which is evident in our programs which are based on the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. We have two Full Time Bachelor Trained Teachers.
Inside over our 8 rooms we focus on literacy rich, home like natural surrounds to ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through interest, sensory, and play-based learning. Art Stations are full of open ended materials accessible at all times. Each child has goals set together by the key educator and family, and our experiences are always based on children’s interests. All weather all year we have the doors open with children able to freely choose between indoors and outdoors. Outdoors we have four areas all with age appropriate play spaces and equipment. Again, we have a strong focus on natural, sensory exploration, and purposeful spaces, with a focus on growing our own herbs and vegetables. We learn through taking care of our environment how to take care of ourselves and our the world around us.
Our Storypark platform, enables us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths. This allows families to share their children’s learning with friends and family that are unable to visit in centre. We use this platform for all our programming , so that you have direct access to add feedback and share you own learning from home.
We are fortunate to have a fully qualified chef on premises five days a week. Our chef has a bachelor of health science as well, which allows for glorious well balanced nutritious meals which are tailored to every child’s individual choices and allergies. We provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. In each room you will find a designated meals area, so our children have access to fresh fruit at all times throughout the day. Each week every room participates in cooking experiences, and every child and educator celebrates their birthdays by cooking and decorating with the children.
Community is a strong driver in our programs. With walking excursions, and the use of the Goodstart Bus we have been able to visit local parks, schools, libraries, and have developed community connections with our local elderly community and sporting clubs. We draw on and welcome local community members with expertise such as yoga and musical talents that have been added to our weekly programs.
Our centre runs Family and Special Friends events throughout the year to celebrate our community and for all of us to get together.
Our Early Childhood Teachers and qualified educators run a 3 year old Kinder program, as well as our 4 year old Funded Kinder Program. This allows our families the flexibility of long day care hours with the Kinder program included. The program allows for each child’s individual strengths, interests and stages of development to be catered for and extended on. The program is to meet the cognitive, social, emotional, physical and language needs and interests for each child with key learning areas evident throughout our program. This ensures our children have the skills they need for school and life when they Graduate.
Come in and see for yourself how we can help give your child the best start in life – and give you peace of mind. We would love the chance to show you around.
