About Goodstart Glen Huntly
Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Glen Huntly is a 60 place centre located on a main road next door to a church, with a tram stop at the end of the street and a train station a 5 minute walk away.
We are a very multicultural based service with many educators and families joining us daily from around the world. We draw on this multiculturalism daily in the many experiences we provide both from staff, parents and the children.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability.
We have natural preserved yards, with natural shade on offer, as well as shade sails to protect the children from the sun. Over the last 12 months we have been incorporating more sustainability in our yards. We have a worm farm and have started growing our own plants and herbs, which are cared for by the children.
Our flexible Kinder program is is geared so the children learn the principles that are required before they transition to school. They develop communication skills, self help skills, basic computer, and physical abilities as well as literature and imaginary skills.
We also have a cook on premises five days a week and we provide breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. The meals that we provide are healthy and nutritious and we also cater for children who have allergies to certain foods.
A major focus for our centre is how working with the broader community can help us enrich the children’s learning experience. Through visits to the centre as well as excursions and participation in community events, we are able to deepen the relationship between the centre and the community, while teaching the children about being a contributing and active member of society.
We welcome you to come and have a look at our beautiful child care centre and explore how we can support you and your child.
