About Goodstart Kangaroo Flat
Our centre is located in a residential area, at 17A Church Street, Kangaroo Flat. We are close to local schools and shops as well as transport routes and community facilities. Our centre has been assessed as exceeding overall in the National Quality Standards, which means your child will be participating in educational programs that exceed the expected standard.
We are a team of dedicated and friendly carers who pride ourselves on implementing educational, fun and interactive programs that meet the needs and interests of all children in our care. Our team provides an inviting and stimulating environment to encourage all children to have fun whilst participating as we work closely with families to provide continuity of care between the children’s homes and the early learning and care setting.
The educators at the centre have been recognised nationally for their work with families by going above and beyond to ensure all families feel welcomed and connected to our Early Learning Centre.
Our centre has four learning environments for children aged six weeks to five years including a 4 year old funded kinder program and a recently added 3 year old kinder program. All educators are experienced with a mix of Bachelor qualified teachers, Diploma of Children’s Services and Certificate III in Children’s Services qualified, to care for and educate up to 73 children per day.
Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
A qualified cook prepares meals and snacks, and all menus have been assessed against the Healthy Together Victoria guidelines. Our cook provides a four-week rotating menu that includes morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.
Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. During 2017, our three outdoor environments had a major upgrade which included decking, digging patches, outdoor kitchens, produce planter boxes, new storage sheds, paths, garden beds, hard wood viewing windows, stencilled paving, gardens beds, established trees, natural sandpits and Castlemaine Slate areas.
We pride ourselves on being a part of the local community through purchasing fresh local produce, inviting members of the community into our centre (e.g. CFA, Police, Maternal Health Nurses, Dental Practitioners and TAFE Students), and getting together to celebrate special events such as Grandparents Day, Graduations and NAIDOC Week, Chinese New Year and many more.
We would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and your family and learn a little about how we can best support you on the journey of lifelong learning.
